I own a Muhle R41 and like it. It's my weekend razor....when I can take my time and focus a bit more. I have a thick beard and the aggressiveness gives me a wonderful shave.

What would be some other high quality aggressive razors that you'd recommend?  The Muhle pot metal concerns me in that it is almost doomed to fail at some point.

SB or OC is fine.

Thanks for your help.

I enjoy the stainless steel Ikon DE with a SB head. I have heard the tech head for the same razor is also quite aggressive.

Ever Ready 1924. It has much more blade exposure than a DE (5mm). Tactile and auditory feel that only a straight can match.

First off OP long time no see how you been my friend, hope all is well with you and yours. Back to aggresive razors, I would say get the Ikon shavecraft tech. It's a little bit more aggresive than the r41,but when you find the right blade combo its also a smooth shave. It's a little quicker to bite you than the r41. It's aluminum, but if your looking for stainless I've heard the ikon standard is pretty much the same razor. If you want to try the tech let me know ,ill boil it and send it your way for a test drive..

The most pleasant aggressive razor for me is the Plisson / Joris. They are plated brass.

* Ikon Shavecraft Tech (you'll probably find this smoother than your R41, but just as effective)
* Ikon SB
* Joris/Fatip
* ATT H1/H2

My Super Adjustable 84 is way too aggressive for my tender face when set higher than 3 or 4. It requires massive amounts of focus and attention to detail. Like Steelman referred to his R41, the SA is my weekend razor.

I think my Gillette Fat Boy set @ 9 with a Feather blade gives my Muhle R41 a run for it's money. My favourite DE for long lasting close shaves is the Merkur slant which some consider an aggressive razor but I can't figure out how it got it's aggressive rep.

In order of preference

Progress at 6.5 (I overclock it.  1.5 second time around)
Fatboy at 11 (it's at 9 but I have custom blade gaps a couple of levels higher)
R41 (I prefer mine with a shorter, heaver MR3 handle)
R41 with Spitfire Cap (So far the shave isn't any better for me than the standard 2013 cap)
Future at 6.  Even with the massive blade gap, the blade exposure just doesn't seem to be very large.

I agree with you on slants, especially coming from an r41 the slant will feel very mild. Same for me with a slim turned up. Muhle just needs to make a SS r41 and be done with it.

The R41 2013, Plisson Joris and Ikon Shavecraft Tech are all equally aggresssive. The 2011 R41 a notch above these and the Fatip Piccolo a notch below. All are great razors. This is just my experience.

Hi Justin!!

Yes I am well my friend and hope you are too.

Might just have to try the new Shavecraft tech. I'm reading great things about it.

Has anyone tried plating an R41 w/ nickel or rhodium?

Joris is a gorgeous razor. Now that I know they are aggressive I've got to try one.

Merkur 39C. The Sledgehammer is amazing. Very aggressive yet gentle at the same time. I can't figure out why but it shaves like the devil and never bites.

OK guys I ordered a Joris and Shavecraft Tech.

I was contemplating buying an ATT H1....but I was able to buy the Joris AND the Tech for less than the ATT.

Is it worth it?  We'll see.  I must say the Joris is gorgeous (online anyways).  I got the palladium and thuyawood model.

Thanks for your help.

Ron
