So i've decided on getting a shavemac 2 band silvertip and was thinking of getting a 24/52 as i want something slightly smaller than my 26mm Thater. Is there much of a difference between the bulb and fan knots?

I have both a fan and bulb in the Shavemac 2 band silvertip. I like a soft, scrubby brush so for the bulb I have a 25mm/50mm and for the fan a 25mm/46mm. I set the fan a bit lower because I wanted the knot to stay focused without too much splay. Both are soft and scrubby with good backone and flow through. I don't think you can go wrong with either.

A 24mm bulb is going to will have a smaller footprint/face fell than a 24mm fan.  I assume your Thater is a bulb?

Either way Journeyman's advice is good about knot ratios.

I agree.  My bulb is a 24mm and it does feel smaller than a fan, but to me the bulb was perfect.

Go with 24/50 if fan or 24/52 if bulb, if you want luxurious soft feel

Go with 24/46 if fan or 24/48 if bulb, if you want a more solid feel.p

Claus speaks truth.. shorten the loft if you decide on a fan. Mine was a 25x48 Fan as I wanted a wall of soft badger on my face that didn't splay much. I feel a bulb is more precise control of the brush but liked the idea of a fan since 2 band Silvertip was that soft.

Yeah my Thater is a bulb, i want a luxurious feeling brush so i'm not sure whether a fan or bulb knot would be better
