Awhile back I had a devastating drop of my Thater brush which ended up breaking the handle. At the suggestion of some folks here I sent the brush off to Bernd of shavemac all the way to Germany for repair. Just got it out of the mail box and I'm so excited I have it back in usable condition and Bernd did a fantastic job! [Image: kPIP0Pq.jpg][Image: uUwRk2I.jpg]

I think Thäter brushes are some of best knots in the business, period. Sad that it got broken, but awesome that you got such an incredible repair!

I agree it's the best knot I've used!

Thäter brush handles are already made by Shavemac, so you just got a new Thäter handle on your Thäter brush, but you communicated with Bernd at Shavemac  Wink

Yup that's why I went with him I knew I'd have the same quality handle!

I am happy you got your brush all fixed up, what a sweetie! I do have a question... These knots are hand tied and they glue the knot directly into the handle itself. There appears to be several layers of material of different colors inside the handle in your photo, is this something that is done on this handle style alone? I know they do not turn this shape on a lathe, but I assumed the construction would be one solid piece then the knot glued in. Any insight into this?

That's an efficient handle indeed.
I ordered my shavemac brushes with the same handle.
Sometimes I cannot distinguish the brush of my Thater and Shavemac from a distance.

Honestly I am not to sure how it's all done didn't really ask that question and since I did not remove the knot from the handle completely as Bernd did that. I did not get to see the bottom of the knot to see what the different colors were.

Looks great. It's like getting a new, already broken-in brush.   Thumbsup
