Seems like there are at least few more Simpson hair choices than are listed on the website.
Can someone please list all Simpsons hair types (including 2-band and 3-band distinctions) and describe/compare them?

Simpson Brushes come in
Pure- three band appearance- roughest them all $
Best- three band appearance- Soft - medium backbone(very popular) $$
Super - three band appearance- Softer yet - less backbone than best (YMMV) $$$
Silver tip (sometimes listed as Super)- Two Band (sometimes three band) - Very soft tips - Medium high backbone (very nice but hard to come by) $$$$
Manchurian - Two Band Soft tips with some scrub - high back bone ( easier to obtain than Silvertip) $$$$$
Synthetic( only in Chubby 2 and Classic 1)- Three band appearance - Soft tips - higher back bone (some describe as not having a sole) $-$$

One thing you should be aware of is that the density of the knot will affect the feel and performance of a brush within hair grades.  Similarly the presence or absence of a glue bump will change the feel and performance of a knot within hair grades.

I'm no stranger to Simpson brushes and apart from the TSN M6, have yet to find a glue bump in any of them.

Agreed, Simpson's knots rarely have glue bumps.  I've only encountered two out of the many I have owned, the TSN M6 (this one was intentional. A calculated feature to improve the backbone) and the new Duke 3 natural horn.

I own 10 Simpson brushes and the only one with a glue bump is the M6.  My statement regarding a glue bump was not meant to imply that Simpson uses it as a regular part of its brush line.  It was a general statement to alert the OP that if the knot has a glue bump it will change the feel and performance of the knot.  I must admit that when I received my M6 I was quite surprised by its feel and performance compared with that of my QEII Jubilee, which also uses Manchurian hair and has a knot roughly the same size as that of the M6, but has no glue bump.  On the other hand, I don't know what other Simpson brush models may have as a glue bump or if Mark plans to use the glue bump more frequently.

It's funny how the badger type converted into glue bump discussion.
I have yet to find glue bump in any simpson with the exception of M6/M7.

Anyways , every M7 has a slight glue bump. I like it and no complaints.

the glue bump discussion actually made me forget what i came in here to ask, lol.

i've been told the 2 band SiLVERTiP is closer to the old simpson's 2 band hair than manchurian. is that true? because if so, i'd "settle" for a polo 10 in SiLVERTiP.

Yes, the SiLVERTiP hair is a much better approximation of the old super 2-band than Manchurian.

2-band Super and 2-band Silvertip are identical hairs, Eric.
Only batch variation dependent.

Manchurian has NOTHING in common with 2-band Simpson, other than Manchurian also is 2-band of course.

2-band has softer tips & softer overall feel. Manchurian is for backbone guys. 2-band Simpson is for Thäter and Saville Row fans.

I enjoy both type hairs, but prefer Manchurian slightly. Mark simply named 2-band Silvertip in 2013, hairs are the same as 2-band Super or just 2-band. The difference is the same  Wink

On the Simpsons website which hair grade is the 2-band silvertip? I see Super badger brushes but they look 3 band on the pics.
Thankls

You will only see two band  silvertip on the website in the LE section. It is hard to come by and usually is sold out quick.
