Apparently a squirrel got into the electrical transformer and knocked out the electricity for my store (as well as all of the other businesses on the block). As a result, I will not be able to ship orders today. Rather than sit in a dark store with no A/C and no computer service, I have gone home for the day. I will ship the orders as soon as I can.

Johnny, I think Phil would rather feed one than shoot one. Besides, I hear that no one is allowed to have a gun in California.
Phil, you do realize that if you hadn't said anything... everyone would simply blame the post office.

I did think about that.

I have a great idea..round up ALL the squirrels and train them to run in a hamster cage hooked up to a magneto which will turn their activity into electrical energy....and threaten them with a samuri cut with a straight if they fail to perform...other wise we will soon have custom Vie-Long Squirrel brushes which I am told perform quite well.....basically scare the hell out of them ..Get out of town now while you have a chance !!!!!

they probably have some nice lil recipes goin' round for squirrel!
perhaps they like to gnaw on the wires to help charge their nuts
Heh heh heh heh. We sure do. I love squirrel dumplings. Best eating around.
We have power outages here all the time. We had one last year that lasted 5 days. I live in the Daniel Boone National Forest and the power company is too cheap to keep the tree limbs trimmed. Thus about every time we have a good thunderstorm the power either blinks on and off several times or it goes out for up to several days. It was off so long last year I had to watch TV by candlelight!

Off point a bit but this reminds me of when, in my youth, we had a terrible stench emanating from the basement - like the scent they add to natural gas so you can detect leaks. When the HVAC tech arrived he discovered a dead squirrel that had wormed its way into the venting system (probably for warmth), was asphyxiated (sp?) and died! Yuck! But my father loved squirrels - another got into an electrical box on the utility pole, got fried, and after that our electric bill for years was like $20/month for a big 70 yr. old house
