MWF is gonna get cracks when it dries out, it won't hurt it any. For it not to crack I think you would have to use it daily until it was used up, but where's the fun in that when you have a den full of soaps, and creams.

It's pure aesthetics. The cracks mean nothing and have nil effect on performance.

I would leave it alone. I usually soak my puck for about 3 -4 days until it won't suck up water anymore and it fits it's the dish perfectly. Well I haven't used it in about 10 days. Open up the lid to find the soap dried out again, instead of the small cracks I have a pretty large crack down thE middle of the puck. The puck is in 2 pieces in the dish now.

Only one way to avoid it.
Soak it 24/7 or use it once, then bin it

Edit: Sorry that was two ways

Some folks water it like a flowet daily. No joke. I mean to each their own but no way am I going to tend to a soap daily.

Ive experimented with the fat every way you could think of. I've shaved using a dry ppuck to loada wet puck it would take a new thread to list it all. I even turned it into a croap ( sort of).

I user to think a dry puck would give bad shaves, not the case IMO and the cracking does not effect anything. Of course this is just my opinion..

Long on my list of things to try, I used MWF for the first time today.  It had a crack in it, glad to know now that it's normal.

On the positive side, it is one of the slicker soaps I've ever used.

Yes. The cracks do not affect performance. I do not have a dish for it.  I used it and once dried I put it back in its box.  I might try to keep it wet.

Its simple. Always store MWF in any type of AIRTIGHT container. That will keep the puck moist . The only thing MWF requires is its own micro environment to just chill and stay away from the elements. Letting it dry out and crack is letting it fail you as it develops a kind of rind that adds difficulty and time to lathering it. Too, continual soaking of the puck leaches its properties away continually degrading the soap.

What can be easier than opening a air tight container, taking your boar brush and face lathering a soft moistened puck MWF?  I keep my puck in a old TOBS container , keeps the air out .

I did it! I stored the puck in a TOBS container with some water.  It even partially restored the soap.

Let it crack.  I have a crack in me, and Im just fine.  JK, sort of.  As others have said, it doesn't harm the performance.

A simple thing but it makes a world of difference. Smile

It might crack again after it dries out again.

Keeping the soap damp/wet 24/7 is a recipe for bacteria. I would learn to live with the cracks.

If the cracking is an aesthetically perpetual problem, you can always try a different soap. Shy
