In my quest for only owning the best of the best, I have sold my entire DE razor collection (I owned 60+ only new DE razors) and also my beloved Mongoose (I owned 3 in total) - not because I disliked the way they shaved, but because I did not find they improved upon the quality of shave I got from my old trusty carts.

If you use a cart the way you use a DE, add a brush and soap/cream and as bonus make sure to have a nice pre & post shave routine, I bet most would not have swayed away from carts, if not for the price of carts.
I cut down the price of carts by finger strop them after each shave and strop them on the razor pitt after 2-3 shaves and get 12-14 quality shaves from one Fusion cart.

I have to be honest - I'm still a closet DE razor user  Tongue When I have time for it, I use one of my Fusion razors for the first pass, then use my one and only Merkur Futur Chrome DE for second and third pass, adding touch ups with the Fusion. I found that I preferred the Futur over the Mongoose for this because I can change the way the Futur shaves according to how much the Fusion removed in first pass, some days I have to shave off 1 days growth other days 2-3 days growth. The Fusion does not take the same amount of hairs in first pass, depending on how many days I need to shave off. For that I enjoy being able to set the Futur to either 1,2,3,4,5 or 6 setting.

Currently I have sold all my Fusion carts too, and only kept 3, that I find give me the best shave and has the nicest handle for my hands.

From left to right: Plisson Golden-Silver Palladium Striped, Mühle Carbon Fibre in Brown-Black and the Edwin Jagger Bulbous Lined Chrome.

Later this year I will add the Acqua di Parma wooden Fusion razor to my collection and also the Wilde & Harte Apsley Fusion.

Lastly this is my travel razor and I also have an extra one in my bathroom for shaving the dome/head & other stuff Blush ......... Tongue

Feather Neo MR3 - the travel brush is my Shavemac 24 mm 2-Band Silvertip bulb 55 mm loft, the extra loft means it's softer and needs less soaking in water and the medium density means it dries faster. This combined with a 2-band hair with soft tips, means I still get nice backbone in the brush.

I've never seen such beautiful carts. I've never shaved with one, although I'm tempted to try out the Neo for travel.

Wow, those are very nice Claus. I only own one DE, a 55 A-4 Redtip. I own two Schick Adjustable Injectors. My cartridge razors are one sensor, 2 Schick Slim Twins, and my newly acquired Feather MR3 Neo. I extend the life of my carts by stropping them on a Razorpit. My record is 35 great shaves out of a Sensor cart.

Claus, when I was a cart guy I bought this little cartridge sharpener from a drug store here in the US. Not sure what all they have where you are from but this little sharpener actually made I cart last me for months and months.

The best part about that sharpener was you could take a brand new one and stick it in the sharpener and it would make it even smoother and sharper. Definitely worth the 20 something dollars I paid for it. Might be something you would be interested in.

One fun thing to try is to take the basic Fusion and remove all the snap on vinyl parts and amazingly you are left with a all metal razor...easy to hold and clean...I leave the cartridge attaching 'button' intact ....quite well made underneath....the Fusion is a great razor for final touch up on neck and cheeks...and blades last quite a while when just used this way.

It's made out of Zamak 5 alloy:

Which is quite acceptable considering the cost of the "basic" Fusion...I do however leave the cartridge "button" intact but I did recently take that apart just to see how it worked.

Never used a cart so can't show anything. I'm wondering however why you use a Merkur Futur and wrote in another topic that you're number 1 DE razor brand is ATT  Wink
I must admit that the handles on those baby's look nice.

I used to own 3 ATT but got rid of my 3 piece DE's. I use one of my Fusin for 1.st pass then a DE for 2.nd pass (and sometimes a 3.rd pass) Touch up is done with the Fusion.
Own two DE's, a chrome Futur and a matte Pils

I just have Harry's (not one of their flashy-colored handles). Mach 3 is still around the house; it's what my wife uses for her legs -- she hasn't taken me up on my offer to use my gear.

As of the approach Claus suggests -- cart with brush and cream -- I did that last Saturday to amazingly good effect.

It's a question of semantics, but I am in the camp that says this is clearly "wet shaving" -- any definition that excludes carts is off base.

The photo below does not show the Feather MR3 neo, which is the best cartridge razor I ever have used.

Beautiful razors, especially the wenge.

Interesting that some like a Fusion for 1st pass on a multiday growth.  Multiday growth is when I prefer a DE or electric -- I get too much pull with a multi blade.
