Hello all,
I just received a new bulldog handle and wondering the finish quality. The thread end has a bad bezel with some small chips. Is this normal? See picks. One pick I did red sharpie so can see. Italian barber.com is saying this is normal. Waiting for response from ikon.

No that is not normal! I have never gotten an Ikon handle, even a blemished one, that looked like that. IB just doesn't want to replace it. Very bad business for them to say that plus it looks bad on Greg!

Man I thought I was anal about stuff. Lol. It's a little dinged up, but that is going to be screwed up against the baseplate and you'll never see it. That's not a finish issue it was knocked around. If it makes you unhappy the vendor you got it from should swap it. IKon won't. I wouldn't worry about it. That said I have. 5 iKon handles. 2 Bulldogs, 2 OSS and an SE and none look like that.

If they say that is normal then that reflects poor customer service on their part. For the price of that handle that should not be acceptable. I had the same marks on the same end from a Maggard MR5 handle, which I called Maggard about and they asked for a picture and within 5 minutes or so the owner called me and said he would replace free of charge and pay for my return shipping or he would mark it down in price for me. I did a return and the new one was perfect. That's is how Maggard does business, and that was for a $21 handle.

That's not normal.  That should be smooth.  That looks like poor machining or a second hand handle.  Either way IB should be giving you a brand new replacement or a full refund.  Good luck!  Forgot to say, it is indeed normal for them to sell stuff in that condition, so yeah, they were right.

Unbelievable, well not really.  I hope it gets resolve.

All you had to say was IB, enough said.

The pic below is what I sent to Maggard for the one I received with nicks on it. Again, that is a Maggard MR5, a $21 handle, not a bulldog.

He didn't get what he paid for and when vendors have less expensive handles with better quality he has every right to be upset. Just because the cost is different does not make it any different than buying a new car that the dealership scratches after you sign the papers and expects you to except it. Also, if the marks are raised it can cause markings under the head of the razor. Hurts the value of the razor as well. He has every right for an exchange or refund!

Oh I agree. As I said if he was unhappy the vendor should have replaced it.

Consider the fact that when screwing that against a nice shiny baseplate such as a chrome plated one especially, those rough spots could chip or otherwise damage the baseplate. Regardless, that is just unacceptable imo when paying good money for what is supposed to be a quality and defect free handle. On my MR5 I mentioned above the owner of Maggard, Brad, called me immediately and said no doubt about it the handle I received should have been under the damaged category. He didn't make it sounds like I was being anal at all.

Yeah if your unhappy get a refund. I would bet you could find someone here to sell you a used one in better shape for less $. I got both of my bulldogs used and they don't look that way.

And if that doesn't work I would definitely not buy from them again, but that's just me. I know Bullgoose Shaving has the 80mm Bulldog handle in stock for $32, which by the way is a darn good price for the Bulldog, glad I checked..lol. Might have to buy one myself.

Then I would let them know you plan to let everyone know of  the shaving forums you paid for a new unblemished ikon handle and they sent you that. That your including pics, and how they pretty much said deal with it. They didn't mind taking money out of your wallet so hit them in theirs with loss of sales.

Sorry. Stuff like this just burns me up lol. Can't stand when a company that puts greed of morals and good customer service.
