Haven't used it in a while and I have to say...it was nice to be back. Great lather.  GGreat scent.  GGreat post shave feel. The new trends and artisans seem mostly to come and go in my nook but this along with a select few others is like that friend every one had that even though you haven't spoke in some time, your pick up like you see each other every day.

I generally use MWF at least once a week but have received so many great soaps recently to rotate that I have not used it in a while...

Your post makes me want to wipe the smirk off its face tomorrow [see cracked MWF thread] Smile

Had a great shave with the fat yesterday. The lather just exploded off the puck.

I try to use my MWF at least once every two weeks, but come winter that will change.  During the cold dry winter months 90% of my shaves will be with either MWF or Arko.  I love those two animal fat soaps in the cold months.

My MWF is severely cracked due to lack of use. I have no container for it at the moment (solvable, but I am lazy) so I am trying to get through a puck of Provence Sante which I think is made of rock since no matter what I do it never seems to get any smaller. Once gone I will move the MFW into this cup and give it a good soak to revive it and it will get back into the rotation. It has been so long I forget how good it is. The Provence Sante is pretty awesome, I was just considering how it could be my desert island soap, it just plain works. Looking forward to getting MWF back going, been nearly a year I think.

I find Arko a little drying. I have a new MWF and have yet to shave with it. I've sworn off opening more soaps until I finish off another. I've read that  MWF is great during the winter months.

Gabe, if I used MWF, I would use it, year round, just as I do with my principal soap! Shy

Gabe,

Try using more water with the Arko.  I used to find it quite drying on my face as well.  Someone suggested that it needed more water.  That worked for me.

Interesting
I always found Arko a bit on the drying side as well.  I will try more water too.

I agree that Mitchell's Wool Fat is a great winter shave soap.  Yet I've found that I've been reaching for it more in the hot summer months.  I like it's clean, soapy goodness and the fact that I don't really need to reach for a balm, but simply follow up with a cold water splash and an easy barbershop splash such as Clubman, Skin Bracer or Aqua Velva.

That's a very good point!

MWF is so skin loving that a thicker balm is not required.

What I do in summer is reduce my usual 2 pumps of balm to just 1 pump and add a drop of water to thin it out, which is sufficient in summer months.

Same here Bob. Just gotta love Da Fat, it's a great all around soap.

Every season, or at least for a number of months - a particular cream/soap/AS speaks to me.  I find myself reaching for it more often than other shave products.  In the past these affairs have been with Tabac, Mike's Natural and most recently Soap Commanders, but since spring I've been reaching for the Fat 2-4 times a week.

It reminds me of how simple an act shaving actually is - Load a brush with soap, add little dribbles of water and build lather on my face - with no complicated scent other than just soapy goodness.  It always shows it's love more easily with regular use and develops wrinkles and crevices with age - but is always there for you.  Finally it seems to last for months and months.  I know that I have finished two pucks of MWF in my shaving careet, but looking at the Tub of MWF in front of me (about two months old - with one month of use) it seems like it will last forever.
