Just arrived - Custom made Shavemac 142 Tortoise bulb 3-Band Silvertip.

Extremely soft tips, very well shaped bulb knot, 26-27 mm knot, 50 mm loft.
Love the large size of the handle, knot looks medium dense, really looking forward to using this brush.

Thanks guys - regarding the handle, I already owned a Finest Shavemac in the same handle,  but sold that brush.

The handle is very ergonomic to hold, nice thick size, without being like a Chubby 3 in thickness, but taller than a Chubby 3, and as you can see dwarfs the Chubby 2 handle.

Chubby 2 is actually a too small handle for my hands, but the thickness makes it work for me.

Shavemac Model 142, 944, 386, 102, 412, 173 and 25 handles in knot size 26 mm - 28 mm are my favourite handles, they all feel extremely comfortable in my hands.

If only Simpson made a Chubby 2 ½ handle, that would be just perfect for my hands  Biggrin

BTW Have a Simpson Polo 10 Manchurian in Black Marble on order - this handle fits my hands very well, the knot is a slightly less dense Chubby 2 knot.
But it's more a handle for the bowl latherer, but still fits a face lather like me very well IMHO

Back to the Shavemac - I really dig this brush, I have owned quite a few of the 3-band Silvertips, and they all perform great for me.
This will not disappoint, I feel.

Thanks.

I also love my Simpsons of course.
They will always be awesome brushes - but this thread is about my 3-band Silvertip Shavemac, which I personally think can and will indeed give the 2-band CH2 jade a run for its money.

If you find your preferred hair type, knot size, loft and knot shape in a handle you like, I honestly believe you can get a custom made Shavenac brush that outperforms ANY OTHER BRUSH ON THE MARKET.

You just have to either get lucky or die trying/spend a few grant$$$ before you learn what is for you.

I have been going through 25-30 shavemacs or handles with Shavenac knots in them and feel I now know my taste.
I have paid my way through it. Have paid full price for ALL brushes (except my 8% discount as loyal diamond customer)

But yes, I also love my Chubby 2 2-band jade, which Mark hand picked for me back in 2013.

Simpson 2-band is hard to find now. Georg, a member in here, has solely bought all stock of 2-band hair from Simpson

Just kidding of course.
It's out of stock at Simpson at the moment.
So either wait or get a custom made Shavemac 2-band Silvertip, which performs close to 2-band Simpson IMHO.

I can recommend both 2-band types. But the Shavemac is ⅔ of the price and IMHO rivals the Simpson 2-band hair.
