Gents, I have the following available for sale:

Vintage Plisson Horn brush (bottom screws off) in what looks like either HMW or EW. Good sized brush and I have only seen one other one. Comes with the original vintage Plisson box. Knot is equivalent to a size 16. Plisson sticker not in tact: Withdrawn

Rooney Victorian Heritage Shave Brush in Super Badger (with box): $115 shipped CONUS SOLD

Both brushes appear to be either lightly used or unused.

Bottom screws off? Can you show a few pics of that? Any idea of the purpose?

Not sure why it screwed off. It could be to create the nice base with the beveled mid section. Here is another picture of it unscrewed:

Is it hollow or filled with something?

It's hollow. Except for the top part which of course is filled with the knot. Biggrin

It's a very strange handle. I don't quite get it. The bottom part must have some purpose like holding powdered shaving soap or cream.

Or just to make it a long or short brush depending on what the user prefers.

That could be, Ray. This type of brush was used a lot in barber shops, so I wouldn't doubt it.

In regards to the Rooney brush, could you provide another picture where we can see the shape of the knot?

You say, "both brushes appear to be gently used". Are these "finds" or did you acquire them in trade?

Thanks,
