I have decided that, for a limited time, I will conduct sales of brushes through a reserve list. I appreciate tremendously those of you who have been able to purchase multiple brushes. I am thrilled that those of you who purchase and use a brush want another one. It's incredibly exciting to know that many of you keep your finger on the pulse and jump at the chance to buy a brush as soon as they are up for sale. There is nothing more integral to the success of The Varlet than return customers.

However, for the time being, demand for brushes is many times above and beyond what I can currently produce. This creates a frenzy upon listing brushes for sale. While this is great for business and for creating even a higher demand for my products, it is not ideal from a customer service standpoint, at least in terms of my vision for what The Varlet will become as a company. It is also not an ideal situation for me personally, as I regrettably receive many messages from potential patrons who were disappointed to miss out on purchasing, even though they fervently want a brush from The Varlet and are excited to support a budding shaving brush company. I hope the reserve list will allow gentlemen to have a well… more gentlemanly purchase experience.

Access to sign up for the Reserve List is available on The Varlet's website, http://www.thevarlet.com/reserve. I will open the list to previous customers, but new customers will be given priority. For every 5 brushes shipped to a new customer, 1 brush will ship to a previous customer. Also, as I cannot ship outside the U.S., the reserve list is bound by this limitation as well. Once your brush is ready, you will receive an email with purchase instructions. You will have 24 hours to complete the purchase, after which time and if you fail to do so, your brush will be made available to someone else on the list. Reserve list requests sent via Shave Nook messaging, through the regular "contact" page on the website, or directly to my email address will not be granted. I have made preparations for streamlining this process that only work with requests from the specified Reserve List form on The Varlet's website. 

First and foremost, my goal is to expand my production capabilities while adhering to strict quality standards. Ultimately, that will allow The Varlet to meet the demand and, by default, provide the best customer experience possible. So I'd like to communicate that the reserve list can be discontinued, put on pause, or cancelled altogether if I find that production is hindered by the additional time necessary for this method of sale. It is my goal to provide not only an exceptional product but an exceptional overall experience, so as The Varlet grows and evolves methods will evolve as well to fulfill this aim.

Nice gesture, Aldo.  I am fortunate enough to use a Varlet brush and I agree with opening up a list to those who do not yet have that pleasure.  As Aldo's business expands, I will add to my Varlet collection for sure.

I have amended the reserve list policy to include previous customers, but I'll give priority to new customers on a 5 to 1 basis. So for every 5 brushes that go to new customers, 1 will go to a previous customer.

I totally agree with Otis, it's your business Aldo conduct it as you see fit. I haven't been able to try your brushes yet but they look wonderful and you seem like a true asset to the wet shaving community
