5 TOBS creams I have bought recently.
The Jermyn Street has been used 3 times.
The rest have never been used........yet  Wink

I know we are not all machines, but isn't it machines that makes sure each TOBS pot is filled to the brim with shaving cream  Tongue

Judge for yourself  Biggrin

I've had the same experience . I always thought the smaller ones had dried out a little but from sitting on the shelves of the vendor. Are the lower filled tubs more dense?

my anal retentive self would put all 5 on a scale to measure weights and then rally the troops for a revolution if there was any differences!

This is how I have always looked at it too.

Are they sold by weight or by volume?

They're sold by weight 150g/5.3oz. I'm guessing they're filled to weight and passed along. The scale can't account for heterogeneity in density, so you get a range of volumes like Claus has shown.

I had the same issue with both of my ToBS tubs.

Sometimes people want to believe they got what they paid for.

It's just that Jermyn Street is my favorite fougere, and it's not even dried out.

My TOBS Sandalwood, Eton College and Mr. Taylor are all dried a bit out, and this probably is why they are filled like the Jermyn Street pot, which is why I did not involve it in this thread.

But all the 5 TOBS are new, and still moist. Not dried out. Yet I think 30-40% of the Jermyn Street is missing and the Cedarwood, bought 6-7 days ago has a rather large hole in the middle, where one would think shaving cream should have been and not air  Tongue

Same happened when I bought DR HARRIS Arlington cream. It was dry and 60% full pot, and actually performed like a soap, which was a good thing, because performance was top notch. Then I got Windsor and almond and Sandalwood. All were 80% full, but like soft cream. Neither performed as well as my dried out Arlington cream  Tongue

I read a thread on another site, and they indicated that the difference in appearance can be due to the way the softer soap settled during transit.

I'd definitely weigh them.  I think that would tell you if you got short-changed by a machine and/or someone took out a sample scoop!

The only one I have came the same way. If I had my digital scale when I bought it I would have weighed it. It didn't look right but it is a heavier cream so probably does weight out correctly.

Your last sentence makes sense to me.
