Out of curiousity i tried the other kind of alum, the one normally saved for the deoderant crystals,.....

I wont do it again i had what i thought was a clean shave and it still punished like nothing else lmao, but regular alum i love using the sting isnt so bad with a good shave, its pretty intense but not to much so with a rough shave, although it doesnt last all that long (the sting i mean)

Occasionally I use Thayers Original Witch Hazel to good effect, which is a superior product to generic witch hazel.

when i started wet shaving i didnt have a alum block. after getting the block and using it, i cant imagine being without it. love the way it just closes up all the pores and gives you that tight feeling.

I recently started using alum and am absolutely loving it.

Usually when I'm done shaving with a Feather blade in my razor I'm left with at least a bit of razor burn. Alum eliminated that problem. Biggrin

I'm using a separate block as deodorant. Seems to be working well as that.

I love my Alum and Thayers especially when shaving the head, seals everything and makes its so soft.

I haven't graduated to an alum yet from a styptic pencil used for closing spot nicks, but I think I'll suck it up and do it soon.

I have an alum block next to my bathroom sink, it is great for skin stretching and for the wake up call after shaving. I do rinse it off after a couple on mins and before applying A/S. But I also have a Razorock alum stick that I take on holiday with me as it a great anti-perspirant as well. Good for when you have been in the pool or sea just to keep the pits fresh without using deo all the time.

I use alum first, then Thayer's w/aloe (green label), then, (on occasion), Proraso.
