It seems to me that a bunch of soap makers are getting into aftershaves. Which do you enjoy more.

I love buying soaps and AS combos.  When I buy a soap, 99.9% of the time I'll buy the matching splash or balm.

I enjoy both!

I enjoy the soaps more, but seem to find myself with quite a collection of aftershave.  Must use more soap on a daily basis.

I only have a few aftershaves so for me its soap. Most of the soaps I use don't even require an aftershave really but I like to put one on anyway.

I don't use any AS/Splashes as I only use unrefined shea butter, so my one soap is my addiction! Biggrin

I'm with Hector!
I like matching scents. Soap-Aftershave Splash and Aftershave Balm. Cold River Soap Works has the product trio for some scents and they work fantastic together.

I'm also a fan of the combos (including preshave oil). I haven't tried the after-trifecta with the balm. I'll have to give it a try when the weather gets a little cooler.

Soaps but not by much. Aftershave stockpile is too heavy for the shelves.

I'm a cream guy, so I don't have any soaps.  I usually have three or four creams on hand.  Aftershaves, though, are a different story.  Right now, I have 27 (just went and counted) on the counter with two more on order.  Probably 10 or so won't make the cut for a second purchase, the rest I replace whenever they run out.  I've tossed out 4 or 5 after using only once.

A man can never have too many aftershaves.

I have noticed an explosion in the number of artisan soap makers in the last year or so.  Seems like everybody and his brother's getting into the biz.

I have maybe 20 soaps and only Nivea (regular & sensitive) and a sample of Paolo ASB.  I like soaps with excellent post-shave conditioning and usually don't use ASB unless something went terribly wrong.

I use Nivea Men AS Balm because it does not contain alcohol, which adversely dry and flakes by skin. Soaps, I have a rotation.

As a crazy fragrance collector, yadadadadada owning more unique fragrance bottles than the year has days, after shave scents are honestly not that important to me.

I do own 12-14 AS Splashes and 8-10 AS Balms, as I do enjoy a bit a variance in my post shave ritual, but I aim for the effect and skin nutrition/healing the AS product provide, much more than the scent. But I do enjoy a bit of change in the AS scent, so I just make sure the scent is not something that will linger/last more than an hour top, because other wise it will disturb and collide with my fragrance du jour, and I don't want that to happen  Nono

SO SHAVING SOAP SCENTS ARE FAR MORE IMPORTANT TO ME !

Matching scents is like those matching tie and pocketsquare combinations. It smells of formulae and a lack of elan. I do not wish to offend. If you really LOVE sandalwood or Eau de  Sonoma Earth Mother patchouli go for it. I personally prefer the delightful alchemy of mixing things up.

For me it's been soaps in the past and still primarily is but I'm increasingly going for the matching AS whenever I buy a soap so I see my AS collection growing now. I enjoy both but if I'm forced to make a choice I'm going soap.

I went through a phase of trying many aftershaves, looking for one with a good scent that suited me well. I wound up skipping aftershave altogether on most days, and now my only real interest would be for an unscented one. With that being said, my vote goes for soap.

Soap. Aftershave is an after thought.  To be honest 5 buck aqua VELVA works as good if not better then the high end I've tried.  Then again I only use it once a week or so.
