Will a topcap from a Muhle R41 (2011 or 2013) fit on a Fatip baseplate, and to what effect?
Does anyone out there have both razors, who can answer that question?
The Fatip's blade exposure is equal to the 2011 R41, but it has no blade gap and so it gives a milder shave.
The R41 topcap might give it that gap, if it's posts will fit through the holes.
Has anyone in this forum made that experiment?  If so, please let me know.  Thanks,

Donald

A little off topic, but if you try this, use a handle that fits the fitting from the screw on the Muhle head and not a Fatip handle. I don't think that will fit and it may strip the threads on the Muhle cap.

I used the Fatip a while back but remember it giving irritation. I would consider using it again but I really love the 2011 R 41. It gives my close and comfortable shaves.

Fatip is a nice razor, but I couldn't handle it, not as a daily driver.

Thank you.  I knew about the thread incompatibility.  And as to why bother, I really don't know for sure.  Maybe because Fatip is made of brass and is a real open comb, and if it had a gap equal to it's blade exposure, it would be formidable.  There is such a razor already and it's called the Roedter 1909, and it looks like a Fatip with an R41 topcap.  Here's a picture of one.  They can't be had in the USA, so I might just have to order one from Holland, unless of course an R41 topcap and handle would fit with a Fatip baseplate.

The top cap of the R41-2013 does fit the baseplate of the Fatip, but I wouldn't say they were made for each other as there is not a glove-like mating.  I haven't shaved with that configuration, but either razor on its own is a great daily razor for me.
