Am I the only one here that has no desire to get a modern razor? I have two Slims (from each one of my grandfathers), two Super speeds, and I Schick Krona. I shave with all of them, mostly the Slims, but out of all the money and effort I've spent acquiring various creams, soaps, and aftershaves, I've never bought a modern razor. I have to admit though, the Futur does look kinda cool.

YMMV! Biggrin    I am the completely opposite as most of the vintage ones just don't work so well for me.

I only shave with SE razors, mainly two razors. Cobra and GEM bullet tip, I probably use the cobra a bit more but the GEM sees much of facetime

I am guilty of using my older gillettes most of the times. I have around 15 - 16 gillettes from SS to adjustables in my rotation. I sold/traded most of my newer razors and feel very happy with the feel and shave of my old favorites. My favorite razor is an aggressive red tip with a feather blade or a fatboy dialed in at 9 with a Voskhod blade. I have tried a few newer razors, but I always go back to my gillettes after a few weeks. I guess I am a creature of habit.

I haven't tried a Red Tip yet but its on my wish list of razors, I would love to find one in the wild.

Vintage razors have more style than modern. IMO

I have 2 new razors that I force myself to use ,I seem to always want to use my vintage stuff more
I think it has to do with the history behind each razor . I have a few from the 20s and a few more from the 30s
some from the 50s and 60s

I really enjoy the hunt for vintage items and cleaning them up.  To date I don't own a newer razor (straight or safety) but I do have one of the Blackbird safety razors on its way from the kickstarter campaign.

Mostly vintage, though an occasional modern thingy, usually of expensive stainless steel, sneaks into the rotation.  I've too many razors to admit to, but on the sink in the den there's a stand for four, and room for two others atop the backsplash.  Of those six, on permanent duty loaded and locked, are a Schick Type M, GEM Micromatic Open Comb, Gillette Fatboy, and the ATT Slant Open Comb.  Right now the Bostonian New Improved is out as well.

I did have a Futur for a while, just sold it off last month.

I have a few of both.  I really don't care for TTO razors much, so that limits the vintage DEs i'm looking for.  I have a slim I use once in a while, I travel with a pre war tech that I really like, and I have a new SC that I really like.  Moderns I kind of buy and sell, searching for the perfect one..

I enjoy both. Wouldn't say one is superior to the other.

I've got both, and I can't say that old is better than new -- I think that if my first DE shave had been with a Gillette long comb NEW, I might never have tried another razor. Instead, I bought a Merkur 34C. While both are terrific shavers, the Merkur is more easily obtained (brick and mortar retail) but the Gillette NEW is still my pick for the best affordable DE safety razor.

I find that my Above The Tie S1 shaves as good or better than any safety razor I know.

After 53 years of wet shaving, I'm the one whose vintage and my razors are new in comparison.

Vintage is all I own. Various Gillettes from 1924 to 1966, assorted Gem & EverReady SEs, a Schick Krona, a Bakelite Slant without a brand on it, and a Schick EverSharp injector. I've tried a few of the moderns through passarounds but haven't been thoroughly impressed with ANY of them to cause me to pull the trigger and get one of my own...

Vintage razors only for me.  Half a dozen or so Gillettes and one lone Schick Krona.  I disposed of the Muhle/Merkur/Parker/EJ razors a long time ago.  The old Gillette razors are engineering feats.  Nickle and brass.  Solid razors.

80% of my shaves are with vintage Gillettes. The other 20% is with a cheap modern Parker or a DE89.

No interest is newer high end razors when I am more than happy with the classics.
