Know how some people will always claim that "there is an app for that"?

Turns out that the app¹ is pretty okay - not bad, but not fantastic.

Shaving Buddy, available for Android, lets me keep track of my shaving hardware and software, track their use, enter my Shave of the Day, and - allegedly - share it on imgur.

Allegedly?

Yeah, I simply can't get that feature to work. Which is a shame, because that would be neat, but it also don't matter too much to me. The ability to keep track of my gear, usage statistics and seeing what gives me the best shaves is enough in my opinion to recommend it.

There is a free version available, but you're limited to five items in each category (razor, blade, brush, lather, aftershave, and additional care). You might want to give the free version a go before shelling out 3USD for the full version. I decided to pay the full price, since I felt it was worth it to me. YMMV.

¹) Only available on Android as far as I know.

Very interesting and seems a relatively easy way to start and consolidate the tracking of shave statistics.

I went in and downloaded the app but it only allows one to input 5 razors before they try to sell you the premium app to allow unlimited inputs.

This is true, as I noted in my original post that the free version is limited to five items in each category. Kind of a bummer, but it was enough for me to try the app out and decide that I liked it enough to pay for the full version.

I wonder if this app will ever come to the Apple app store?

I'd get the full version. Except, well, I have an iPad and iPod Touch.

There's no way I'm going to get an Android device.

I actually loaded the free version 0n 12/6/15 before my first DE in maybe 30 years. For the record, I used:
  • Razor: EJ Kelvin
  • Blade: Derby Extra
  • Brush: Omega 49 Professional
  • Lather: Barbasol can
I rated the shave 2.5 out of5.

I used it through the end of December & stopped when I reached the free version's 5 item/category max.
It's great to have a picture of things. The stats with averages for equipment and best ratings is interesting, although with my technique and equipment getting better, I would probably hit a ceiling with the ratings now. I should probably spring for the pay version & start again since it's only a few bucks.

I also have the $$ version. It's neat to keep track of your shaves. I keep a computer spread sheet of shaves too. I'm retired so i can pamper myself.
