Today I bought this vintage Merkur razor from an antique store for 13 euros. It must be silver plated. The head of the razor is not the same on both sides, if you may have noticed. On one side there is a close comd and on the other side it's smooth, I guess it's a little more aggressive on this side. I haven't used it yet, I just cleaned it. It's almost in perfect condition!

Do you know anything about this razor? The only think I know is that it's a Merkur... [Image: 001_cool.gif]

Must be from 1956, model no. 41, but with different top cap. Maybe a limited edition of Merkur.
A member from another forum helped me to find this information and I thank him.

I used it today.
The shave was very smooth and efficient. Reminds me the result I get each time I use the Merkur 34C. It's maybe a little more aggressive, but I will test it again for the final opinion on this. I think that the blade gap is a little bigger on the smooth side comb. The feeling is a little strange on this side.
It is a very good razor and one the most beautiful I have in my collection. As I wrote above, the shave was great, no problems at all.
Also, I have to say that vintage Merkurs have better finish than the new ones. Beside the fact that it's maybe 60 years old, the finish overall is almost in perfect condition.
This razor made me want to try more vintage razors, that's why I decided to trade some of my best blades.

Nice looking example nikos.a.
I have not found it in a catalog, but if the box is correct for mine, it is Model No.780.
