Do kamisori razors need to be stropped differently from western styles? I saw that you had to hone them differently. Also, if you get a razor maker to make one in the Japanese style, is it made the same way as a traditional one? Thanks guys.

Mike,

AFAIK you strop them the same. If you have one custom made, it can be made any way you like, but most folding kamisori customs I've seen are symmetrical like the King Pelican 14. If I were having one made, I wouldn't use the soft iron and I'd probably have it symmetrically ground.

Cheers, Steve

The folding Kamisori is stropped the same as a Western Straight. The small Wa Kamisori  are usually stropped carefully on a paddle strop or leather on a board. For my Wa Kamisori I use the flat table top strop; leather on a board.
