Does the slant bar suffer from the same uneven blade gap as most other Merkur razors?

The Merkur Slant is deliberately designed with an uneven blade gap.

That picture of the slant looks wicked but its not. A great shaver and not too aggressive.

Keep in mind that the blade is also twisted so the difference in gap from the blade to the guard bar isn't as drastic as it looks like it would be. Just use this razor like a regular DE and be prepared to be amazed at its smoothness.

CryptoSOLO, I agree with all that has been said here about the Slant. It really has an undeserved reputation as a face eater. Just use the same caution you would with any other DE and you will have stellar results. Thumbsup

The slant is definitely going to be the next razor I purchase. Only question is which handle to get?

The added heft of the 39c is worth it.

Respectfully, I disagree. The texture of the 37C is much better, and will be easier to control with less grip pressure. Plus, a shorter handle is more conventional for a reason.
