Hello Nook,
Today was my 1st shave with my new to me Razorock SLAB. (Thanks Waveflow Dave). Started off with a nice hot shower then a good face lather with Omega soap as per usual. Dropped in a new Astra SP blade and started. I immediatly could tell this was not my Merkur 34c nor my Razorock Barberpole. Tons more "blade feel" on my face and quit a bit more audible sensation. I'm guessing this is what more aggressive feels and sounds like. I was happily enjoying things and I believe I then learned my 1st lesson....Don't get too comfortable. I believe I resorted to the speed I shave with my milder razors and lost track of just how much more blade there was touching my face. I dropped the razor onto my face between my cheek and mustache and immideatly dug in with a nice cut. My fault....just got careless in the moment and needed to slow down.
Ended my shave and splashed some Thayers Cucumber witchhazel followed by a dab of Neutrogena post shave lotion on my lower neck and a spritz of Fine American Blend AS. Noticed I had 2 weepers from skin imperfections that I always have but the SLAB decided I didn't need anymore. Shave felt very close and surprisingly no burn or irritation except for the cut and the 2 weepers.
Lesson learned....slow down and respect a more aggressive razor....

I don't have the Slab but do have its cousin, the Rake which I feel is a solid, value razor.

Look forward to hearing more as you continue to tame the Slab!

I prefer aggressive SB razors and have been on the edge with the SLAB. How would rate it between a DE89 or Merkur 34c?

I have not used a DE89 but I can tell you that the slab IMHO is at least a third more aggressive than my 34C. I don't have much experience with alot of razors though.
My SLAB has an IKon bamboo handle also.

Happy to hear that first shave was good with some things to build on.

I found the SLAB to be an excellent razor. IMO more smooth & efficient than the DE89 & Merkur 34c. It's also one the most audible razors I've tried. This should provide direction towards the proper cutting angle.

The only reason I sold mine is because I have 3 other RazoRock razors that I love.

I hope the second shave goes great!

So my SLAB arrived and I used it for my shave yesterday. I have a thick coarse beard and enjoy aggressive Straight bar razors. My most aggressive is the Matador Toro Mastiff and the SLAB is maybe a slight step down but not by much. The SLAB has the loudest audible feedback ive ever encountered with a razor and is louder than my merkur futur. The head resembles an EJ DE89 with a lot bigger of a blade gap making it more aggressive. My shave was very enjoyable and this is a razor that won't leave my den. Price also is very good too.

I think you will enjoy it Kevin. If you enjoy efficiency and audible feedback, you will be super pleased with the SLAB.

Thanks again Balj- I do like both in a razor. I am also keenly interested in the Fatip SB razor and hope that it is an efficient shaver; heard it was a couple weeks out.

I very much like my Grande.

Not surprising as it is my impression they are actually made by D. Grover in the same factory. Could be mistaken and don't have any first hand confirmation but just the word on the street.

Regardless, broke out the Rake today and enjoyed the shave!
