Interesting. I would like to know how they perform, after a few people post reviews. I'm also curious about the scents. Lavender, and sandalwood both vary considerably, from soap to soap.

I've tried them before the release, and performance is quite good, IMO. Definitely worth a try!

I know more than a few of us will be wary of the olive oil, but I expect that it's used in small enough quantities not to be an issue.

Is it a hard or a soft soap? Semogue is only the branding or is Semogue the manufacturer itself?

Is the performance similar to LEA and Musgo Real puck soaps?

No...it is made by a Portuguese "Artisan". I was contacted regarding the soap a few weeks ago. I have not ordered any yet...I am waiting for reviews.

This soap indicates a 6 month "rotate/use by" date on the box.  Surely this soap will be usable longer than 6 months??

Thanks,
Ed

They have to label based on which ingredient will "turn" or go rancid first. Might be the olive oil in this example, but I'm not sure. Those dates can be misleading because the individual component requiring the 6 month label may go bad (on its own) in 6 months, but as part of soap (after going through saponification) it may be shelf stable for years. It's hard to say for sure, so the laws are written to use conservative estimates. Most of your colognes/AS will say 12 months but I have some that are older than that and they're fine.

Let's just get it out there and say soap doesn't go bad. There I said it.

I'm about to receive one of these soaps in the next few days.
Obviously, the soap is not made by Semogue... Mr. Gomes is a brush-maker, not a soap-maker...!
The soap is made for Semogue by a Portuguese soap artisan lady. Smile

I've tried some prototypes some time ago. They were very promising. I'm looking forward to test the final product.

Of course.
That labelling is just a bureaucracy/legislation issue.

It will be usable longer, just like any other artisan soap.

I've always wondered how these sorts of expiration or "use by" dates are calculated. It's very hard to get straight answers from manufacturers in that regard.
