I would like to hear people's feedback on whether or not it is worth the price. How does it compare especially with slickness, glide and cushion to other top soaps such as Xpec, ADP, ABC, Baume.be or other high end soaps.
Thanks

I find the slickness glide and cushion to be among the best.  Especially the residual slickness--the protection it allows when you take strokes after the lather has been cleared away.  If you can afford it, get it.

It is MY soap of all soaps and I have tried all of the ones you mentioned.  The current, third formulation is my PERFECT shaving soap and I would be content to only use it for the rest of my life.  That is what I think of it.

And by the way, it is PHENOMENAL with a straight.  Very, very slick.

Has anyone tried both SMN V3 and PannaCrema Nuavia? I'd be interested to hear how those compare, since both are regarded as some of the best performing soaps available.

I have only used each Nuavia a couple of times, which isn't enough to give an educated opinion. I enjoy the scents, they are very easy to produce an abundance of rich lather, and overall are very good soaps. However, for slickness (which I'm looking for with my straights) and post-shave feel, you can't beat SMN. I think that I must have V2, as it takes some effort to produce the lather that I'm looking for, although the effort is well worth it.

Agreed.  I have v2 and I think it's great (though the lather needs to be earned through effort).  I hope to get v3 soon once I clear some of my inventory... Wink

For the most part, I did not enjoy the post-shave feel of V2 SMN, as I found it a tad filmy/waxy.
I even tested it by washing my hands with the product; I find that it doesn't rinse as cleanly as my preferred SCs [e.g.: tube AdP, DRH, etc.].
I am hoping V3 is an improvement, relative to V2, in this regard.

V3 is slick, easy to lather and rinses much more cleanly off of hardware and your face.

I have a SMN coming and I already have a Nauvia Blu. The Blu goes right to the top.

This thread should come with its own 'trigger warning'. [Now wouldn't that bring a whole new meaning to the term!Smile]

Well, honestly I think sometimes we are just looking for a little complicity to pull the trigger.
Its interesting to see how products come and go though. Its so funny to find old threads where you learn products like PannaCrema used to be highly sought after while today, if it weren't for Nuávia, chances are no one would have mentioned their soaps in the "best soaps money no object" thread. I can tell you their soap were hardly ever mentioned 1-2 years ago in similar threads.
Anyways, finding a product that works for you is such a delight ...

True, but sometimes products live up to their reputations. For instance, I tried MdC solely because of the reports made by others, and it is one of the very best products I've ever used.

From what I can tell of these reports on Santa Maria Novella, and from private discussions I've had with others, SMN V3 is one that is likely to live up to its reputation. I'll buy it soon and find out, but I'm betting it will be fantastic. Similarly, I purchased Nuavia based on early reports (specifically from people who have tried the higher end stuff), and will report back on the other thread if it meets my expectations.

I have a feeling when/if version 4 comes out many here will profess its superiority. It's all good, I enjoy the banter.

Reformulations aren't always better, and can often be disastrous. But if you look at the ingredients list for V1 and V2 and compare it to V3, there is simply no contest. The same thing goes for comparing comments made concerning these versions. V3 is a better formula.
