Does anyone have any experience with the line of shaving products from Farmacia SS Annunziata in Florence, Italy? I am particularly curious about their hard shaving soaps:

I don't know why the site doesn't have the ingredients listed. Maybe I wasn't seeing them.

They really only mention Argan oil. I have thought about sending them an email requesting the ingredients list but haven't gotten around to it yet.

I have a feeling the soaps are new, and I'm curious to know who makes them.

I recently purchased one (Isos) in Torino, IT. Was planning to try it later this week. Will post my first impressions soon.

best regards,
Alex

Does the package for your soap list the ingredients? If so, would you please post a photo here?

Also, what is your take on the Isos scent?

Unfortunately, I still did not figure out how to include photos in my posts, so I will just type the ingredients  list below:

Sodium Palmate, Sodium Palm Kernelate, Aqua/Water, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Parfum/Fragrance, Glycerin, Palm Kernel Acid, Tetrasodium EDTA, Tetrasodium Etidronate, Sodium Chloride, CI 77891/Titanium Dioxide, Limonene.

If you would like, please PM me your email address and I will send you a photo of the list.

Once I shave with this soap I will post my opinion on the scent.

Best,
Alex

Thanks for taking the time to write up that list. Much appreciated. I'll wait for your review with some interest. Another member shared with me that Farmacia SS Annunziata makes all of their own products in house. This appears to be a palm oil based soap with a good dose of Argan. I'll have to look at my other soaps to see what if most closely resembles.

Sounds promising, but I'll wait for someone else to get the face burn first before jumping the gun. Smile

Not that I'm wishing that on anybody, but unfortunately, this is the best barometer on a new soap/cream Angry

No problem at all! Just gave it a quick sniff and realized that I am highly incapable of describing smells  Confused

However, there are three words that immediately come to my mind: woodsy, earthy, peppery. with the emphasis on peppery. Clean and soapy (not excessively though). Will test-shave tonight!

Cheers,
Alex

Thanks!

I think that every ad for a soap/cream, should include a picture of the ingredient list, unless is already stated, and even then, I'll rather look at the whole list.

As promised, I test lathered the ISOS soap (hard, tripple-milled perhaps) tonight and than did a 2-pass shave with my newly acquired Black Mamba. The pictures below show: a slightly wet brush loaded with the soap without blooming for one minute (left) and the result of palm lathering with slow addition of extra water (right). The lather was not as voluminous as it would come from ABC, AdP, SMN, or MDC. It was slick and relatively stable - it did not dissipate until I finished my second pass with a bit of extra cleaning up. Aftershave face-feel was refreshing, though not moisturizing, but not excessively dry either, very similar to MDC.
No burning sensation, Hector! Biggrin  The smell of the soap is very pleasant and I could still easily detect it after an hour. The BM was outstanding - it gave me a BBS shave in 2,5 passes, with minimum irritation. In all fairness, the soap should also receive some credit for this outcome!

All in all, though I achieved a BBS result with very little irritation, I was not extremely impressed with the soap. I purchased it in Italy for EUR19 and was hoping it would perform on par with ABC, 3P, or Valobra. Unfortunately, it was not the case. However, this was my first try with this soap and I would need to spend at least a week before I could solidify my opinion about it. Hope you find my short review useful!

Cheers,
Alex
