Being scientifically literate, I know that shaving does not affect the thickness of the beard, but it seems to me that since taking up DE shaving, my beard grows a bit faster. Could this be true? Maybe may skin is healthier from using high-quality shaving soaps and creams. Has anybody else noticed a faster rate of beard growth?

I wish haha!  Then I could shave twice a day!

But seriously I have not personally noticed a difference since switching over.  Actually when I go for BBS it typically lasts well into the night and I typically shave around 5 in the morning.

You are observing the removal of dermal debri, revealing a beard forest devoid of any understory. As a side note; I had sat next to a mortician on a bus who insisted on talking shop until the seats in front and behind us were empty. He explained the early effects of rigormortis tightened  the skin, revealing a 5 o'clock shadow. Alas, all of our best efforts will end in final corporal insult.

I figured this out and I noticed the same thing. A cart cuts the hair below the surface so it takes longer to fell or see stubble. A DE cuts it at the surface so it makes you think it's growing faster. Same rewson dE razors don't give ingrown hairs.

Carts/DE/SE the more often I shave the faster it grows. Remember back in the carts days when I hated shaving I used to shave once a week/10days.. My beard wouldn't grow until 3rd day. Now I shave everyday and as a result beard grows everyday!

No matter what I use, be it a straight, DE, SE later in the day you can clearly see the stubble. No complaints here, I've shaved twice a day for almost 40 years.

It might be that you are just more tuned in to shaving and now notice the growth now.  Back when I used an electric shaver I really didn't notice but now if I have a spot that isn't BBS I really notice it all day.

Truthfully, I think it has more to do with what you're noticing.  The difference between BBS and very short stubble seems far greater than medium length stubble vs. medium to long length stubble.  So in a perverse way, the better your shaves, the more you think your beard is growing!

No, haven't noticed that at all. I do think people have whiskers that grow at different rates though.

This, I believe, is the answer.
