Back in the days when AM radio ruled the airwaves, advertisements for Ivory Soap — of which there were many, especially during the daytime — always ended with the slogan, “Ninety-nine; and forty-four; one hundredths percent pure.  It floats!”

By way of contrast, the (fully functional) frankenrazor pictured below, which yr obdnt srvnt assembled today, is not pure anything; and it does not float.  In fact, the three pieces of the razor were manufactured in three different countries.  Each of the three pieces may be purchased, in new condition, today from a reputable retailer, but not all necessarily from the same retailer, and the purchaser may be required to purchase more than the piece alone.

Your mission, Jim, should you care to accept it, is to guess correctly (1) the nationalities of manufacture the three parts of the razor, and (2) the brand names associated with the individual parts.  One expects that astute observers will regard the handle as a gimme, perhaps the other two a bit more difficult.

The only prize for submitting the correct answer will be the satisfaction of knowing that you are sufficiently astute to discern the components from this amatuer photograph below.

USA, Thailand and Cañada. Smile

My thinking is Gillette Tech, iKon and Maggard. I know Maggard is in Michigan, but they have a maple leaf for a logo, for crying out loud! And apparently being a machinist is a requirement for citizenship in Canada.

Japan (top cap, Feathers), Thailand (base plate, iKon), and Pakistan (handle, Maggards). May be India for the handle but decided to go with Pakistan.

Very good. But I think the iKon is made in Thailand.

“Cañada”?  Really?   Bow

Not Gillette Tech:  Feather AS-D2.

I think that the Maggard MR5 handle is machined in the PRC.  The possibility exists that I am wrong.

The name is Feather, based in Osaka, but with some manufacturing facilities in Seki.  I do not know which of the Japanese facilities is the one where the AS-D2 is manufactured.

iKon is a USA company, but has its razors made in Thailand.

Maggard is in Adrian, Michigan, but the company imports its handles.
