I think we all already know how good are the Edwin Jagger traditional safety razors,no surprise here,so Im just simply going to post pics of the last Edwin Jagger that I have adquired : the DE8911.
The Edwin Jagger razors are very well finish (Merkur should learn...) and the have the best fixed close comb heads of all that I have tried so far, alongside the Merkur 34C HD (of course, this is my personal opinion)
The DE8911 has a sister, the DE89BA11 "Barley",which has a knurling, while this one has a smooth handle, like the DE89.I have no problems with that and actually, the razor is easy to hold while shaving, even if you have wet hands and you know how to properly hold a safety razor.
This razor has a ball at the end of the handle and weights 76 g,like the DE89BA11 "Barley" model.
I cant get enough Edwin Jaggers and Im thinking in the next one to add to my collection.
And here some pics with the Edwin Jagger DE89BA11 "Barley" :

As always, excellent pics Teiste
One thing in the design of the EJ heads that I enjoy- the short posts... the standard long posts many other DE brands use, well, drive me crazy! harder to clean the long posts!
sooo, what makes it a 8911 vs 89, ?
what is *different* the handle balance? the head shape/weight?

I have a DE89 & a DE8911.
The difference is in the end of the handle. The 89 has the standard EJ handle end while the 8911 has a knurled ball end, almost reminiscent of the ball end tech. Other than that they are the same razor.
It's very nice when you want to compare 2 different blades in the same razor. Load up a different blade in each one and compare away.
I recently picked up an IKON Bulldog handle and replaced the handle of my DE89 with the IKON. Now this is a razor! I call it my English Bulldog. This has become my favorite razor. The feel and balance are absolutely perfect.
I'm right there with Teiste, I've got to get me some more Edwin Jagger 89's.

I mostly shave with SEs but a couple times a week I pick up a DE, usually the EJ. I have the smooth chrome. It took a while for me to get used to the thickness of the handle but once I did I really enjoyed the razor. I especially like the way the head sheds water after you rinse it.
