I love looking at the fine images of our hobby that members post on SN. Much creativity, and obviously much technical skill. But, I can't figure out why there are often dice in the photos. They look really neat, but is there a reason (other than visual appeal)?

I believe these fellows keep track of number of shaves with current blade this way.

I used to do that, but once multiple razors and blades came into the picture I got a mini dry erase board to put down the razor and the day I put in the blade.

You could always take the dry erase marker straight to the mirror if you don't want to buy a board.

That's it. If you look at John's (churchilllafemme) picture of today, I can tell he is on his 5th shave with the blade in his razor. He could use just one dice but when he gets above six shaves, he needs two dice.

These days I tend to use one razor each week (and changes blade every Monday morning), but the app I reviewed a little while back can also help people keep track of blades in individual razors. Perhaps I should start changing razors with each shave again...

Back before computers were Everywhere, I played Dungeons & Dragons.
Check your friendly neighborhood Comic store for dice in 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, and 20 sided.

That system is surprisingly genius- I had no idea why folks did that!
I'd always just put the same blade in whatever razor I was using that day- on Wednesday I change the blade.  KISS- or I'll outsmart myself!

Here are some tiny dice.  I haven't figured out how to get the dots on them yet though.
  That's a Bic blade.

Back when PLAYBOY was PLAYBOY there were these mysterious multiple stars on the coverpage margin. Urban myth held it was the number of times Hefner had seduced that month's centerfold. It eventually was revealed they were simply regional distribution, pre bar code symbols. Early on I thought two band brushes refered to ridges in the handle.
I always thought those dice were a reference for size in the photos. A6

My dice are bakelite and were made, I believe, in the 1950s.  I just like their color.

Thanks John! I never considered my dice vintage, or thought of bakelite.
Several of those are from a Yahtzee set owned by my grandparents.
They could very well be from the '50's, too.

Why is my text so small?
