I have TOBS Sandalwood soap (and AS and EdT) and I adore the scent.  However, I have found that CRSW, B&M and Queen Charlotte (all in my rotation) provide a more comfortable post-shave face feel.  So I am wondering if there is a soap among these (or others) that would come close to the same scent as the TOBS.  I know that CRSW Sandalwood does not have the TOBS scent.  I know that Queen Charlotte's Queen Charlotte smells (to me) a lot like Obsession for Men (which is somewhat the same as TOBS).  I have read that B&M Bay Rum has no cloves (good thing) and contains benzoin (amber-like), so maybe that is a possibility.  I have D.R. Harris Sandalwood aftershave (guessing their soap smells like it), but it is a bit too deep and less floral than the TOBS.  Anyone have a thought or two?

Valobra Patchouly to reminds me of the TOBS sandalwood soap scent. Its been a while since I smelled TOBS, but when I smelled Valobra Patchouly it reminded me of it. Maybe someone who currently has both can chime in.

It's going to be tough because everyone's "sandalwood" is so different based on the supporting elements. I don't think I've smelled two that are exactly alike.

B&M Bay Rum has a fairly strong clove scent, to me. Shy

Are you thinking of another brand?  B&M has no clove in it.

Please note that our bay rum is entirely clove-free.

At any rate, I really like B&M bay rum, but it's entirely different from TOBS Sandalwood.

John, you may want to consider the TOBS cream - it lathers much easier than the soap, and while it doesn't have the post shave feel of the B&M, I think it is a great shave. Plus, it's faster to lather so maybe there's a time and place for a cream in your house.

Maybe try to get a NOS of Tallow AOS Sandalwood?

There are plenty of sources online for a reasonable price.

That is a tempting idea (as is the Valobra patchouli).  Have never sniffed either.  Oddly, I broke out my long-stored MWF these last two mornings for some reason, and find I truly like its scent.  And the TOBS aftershave and edt goes well with it.

john parker, I don't know whether you have the recently [about a year ago] launched DRH Sandalwood a/s, but to my nose, it's mellower, and a bit more floral, than it's predecessor. That said, I'd also comment that it's still not nearly as floral as TOBS' version.

AoS's Sandalwood is one of my favourites, but I find it to be a deep scent, with no significant floral dimension [if looking for one].

Really good to know!  Yes, I do indeed like the floral dimension in the TOBS Sandalwood.  I also have the DRH Sandalwood a/s, and I a agree that it is not as floral as TOBS.
