I've read that applying moisturizer over aftershave helps to "seal" the aftershave in to the skin and extend the effective time of the aftershave fragrance.  Has anyone's personal experience proven that to be true?  If so, is there a particular moisturizer you'd recommend?  For me, I'd want something that isn't overly sticky or greasy, doesn't fight the fragrance of the AS and doesn't cost a bunch.

Check out Cremo Cream Moisturizer.  Unscented and neither sticky nor greasy.  At $8 a bottle, it's one of the better deals out there.  I use their face soap, too.

Not sure that I have every noticed or heard of it extending the life of AS fragrance but I have and do use Soap Commander Integrity AS Balm.

Unscented, non-greasy and I prefer the mentholated version for a slight kick. I am not a huge balm guy but do enjoy this one.

I have used Nivea Sensitive Balm for over a decade. Not sure about making an AS scent last longer, but it makes my skin feel great (especially in winter), it's cheap, it absorbs quickly, it's non-greasy,and it can be found everywhere.

+1 This has become my go-to unscented AS, in addition to AOS.

Aveeno - the big bottle of moisturizer you get at the supermarket.
I mix it with an aftershave and that works for me the best.

I'm a fan of Cremo as well. I normally use it when I don't want the AS to interfere with some fragrance I'm planning to use.

As a shaving freak, fragrance freak & skin care freak (in that order), I give you my advice.

To seal the after shave, use a post shave balm and/or a facial moisturiser for best post shave feel and to help your skin to look better.
To prolong the effect of a fragrance, don't put anything on top of the fragrance. It will kill the scent. Do the opposite.
Put your fragrance on top of the moisturiser cream. This will help with longevity of the fragrance by 25-75% in my experience.

That is good advice. What unscented aftershave balm would you recommend using?

Interesting.  I'll give that a try.

Of late I have taken to using Lucky Tiger Aftershave and Face Tonic, then layering CK One on top. Works very nice at both healing the face post shave, and having a nice smell most of the day.
