I came across a puck of Floris JF. Not sure what the ingredients are. Are the Floris soaps good or should I steer clear like the GFT soaps.

Depends on which version you have.  The version in this packaging is very good.

I would take it that is the one with tallow?  From my reading/research. Tallow soaps the the best and palm oil not so much or is it a specific version of palm oil?

I have all of the old Floris soaps that use tallow and they are excellent!

Just looked on the Floris UK website and the JF soap is absent. I know the Elite and No.89 soaps have been reformulated, again, and now come in the dark blue packaging. These, also, now have sodium palmate as first ingredient, just as those from Trumper do. These should be avoided.
I noticed when these went on sale, the JF was still available in the blue/gold packaging, as in Nathan's pic, above. These were still to the previous formula with potassium palmate as first ingredient, and excellent performers. I could be wrong, but I get the impression that JF, just like English Fern with Penhaligon's, may be discontinued in soap form. The fragrance is still available, though, at this current time.

Unfortunately this WAS once a way to be sure, but eventually the formulas were switched again even though the packaging stayed the same.
I had all three scents in the light blue packaging and they were very good (potassium palmate). But then I bought 3 more JF refills in the same light blue packaging and they were bad (sodium palmate). Other guys confirmed the same.
Only way to be sure is to see the ingredients list.

I was told that the first 2 ingredients were Potassium Palmate, Sodium Palmate.  So would that be the good or bad one due to it having both?

That's the good one. The soap will contain both; it's the order in which they are listed that counts.

Not quite sure if there was a tallow version.   The place had some left on sale and they said the ingredients were potassium palmate, sodium palmate. So I figured I'd try them out

I just hope that I don't like them too much as they have been discontinued.  BAsed on the reviews I read, the scent sounded pretty good.

Mail came today and there was a box sitting there.  Inside were 4 Floris JF shaving soap bowls. The boxs are just radiating the smell.  They smell wonderful, can't wait to give one a go tomorrow.  Turns out they all have Potassium Palmate as the first ingredient.

Not sure if posting the picture here is allowed as I posted it in the monthly haul thread.
