I do this without the use of the crockpot. Are you stripping off the nickel chemically, or what?

Yes,I strip the nickel chemically.

Nice job @DrTerror

How did you manage to get rid of the grease before putting them into the bath ? I sometimes really having issues with grease which results in haze on the nickel.

I use a washing up liquid, acetate, water mix at 60C in an ultrasonic first, then (with gloves on) run them through an alkaline soak cleaner also at 60C,then through the pickling process at room temp, then plate at 60C... Biggrin

All rust removed, from the insides, and outsides,TTO knob tightened up (at the crimp),gently hand polished,as the plating was a bit thin in places, and tomorrow I will lube, and paint in the numbers...

OK,I received a couple of 'old dogs' in this morning.A vintage UK Gillette 'NEW',of the raised flat bottom style, and a Valet Auto Stop...Both cases cleaned up really nice, but the razors need a lot of work, they even both came with cardboard outers (I am a sucker for that old cardboard!),and the Valet came with all the old instructions too....shame about the rest off it!...A quick before of the Valet's strop case....

And after a 10 minute clean up....

And one of them both, before I got them into my sweaty hands!...

My hand gave up at the clean up stage above!,so now onto the heavy weapons....LOL!

Forgot to mention I have some chrome stripper I am eager to try out, just need to get rid of the rust first....

The above FB,with the numbers filled in with 3 coats of matt black, and a coat of lacquer....

All hand polished, cleaned and polished inside and out,all mechanisms cleaned and oiled with white mineral oil.
It came out nice in the end....LOL!.
