I just received a Merkur 37c slant razor (thanks Slant81@B&B). I'm going to use it tomorrow. I have a fast growing, heavy beard. I shaved to SAS today.

So I'm wondering what blade to pair with it?

What do you use with your slants? And why?

Well sir I do believe it needs to be sharp one lol. I find that polsilvers and gillette silver blues work best for me in a slant. Gillette blacks as well the blacks and feathers Are good just wait and see how to handle the razor first as a feather and a Gillette black are super sharp and easy to nick. Personna labs and meds are sharp as well . What's your blade of choice .

I have a lot of blades right now.  Mostly what I use are Feathers and Red Personna.  Just got a few including Polsilvers and many others.

I haven't tried the Polsilvers.  Would you still siping test the combo if they're both new to me?

For me Gillette 7 o clock Black/Platinum (Made in India) is best

I haven't found anything as smooth and long-lasting with modern, produced, DE blades as the Wizamet Iridium Supers. They are exceptional.

I went with a Personna red and it was surprisingly mild

My favorite ones in the slant are the Astra Stainless (blue package not green), Personna labs/meds and Personna Red.  Maybe try a smooth, sharp, middle of the road blade that you've liked in another razor and see how that works out for you. I find that a lot of blades that simply wouldn't work in any other razor seem to perform well for me in my 37C.

Hate to waste a blade with life in it but I think I might change out to something a little more aggressive like the Polsilver.

I've used PolSilver SI, Perma-Sharp, and Derby in a 39C longhandle slant. They all performed well.

Would try an ASTRA SP or Gillette 7 o clock black. Love them in my ikon slant.

My favorites are Astra Stainless (blue) and the Personna Red.  That being said, many blades that dont work for me in other razors work well in the slant. I manage to get a very nice shave from my 37C loaded with a Derby.

I agree with all mentioned. I will however say I tried a Wilkinson with my slant and it was horrible. May have been a dud, but I went to my SS and Kai immediately.

I have a similar beard, and the same razor. Lab Blues work well. I tried Feathers too and liked those as well.

It's funny how much opinion differs on blades.
