I bought a razor last week off eBay. The fella I bought it from sent me message wishing me luck with it and telling me that he cut himself horribly with it and that I should be careful with it. I thanked him for the words of advice. Upon getting the razor this morning, the base plate was upside down. I sent him a message asking him if he shaved with it that way, and he said "yes". I think before I sold the razor, I'd have at least made sure I had it put together correctly.

I know. I offered the razor back to him for what I bought it for on eBay, but he said he'd given up on it.

What a situation! It looks like some kind of anecdote - sadly, it is true. Poor guy!

Absolutely. Chalk that up to his loss, your gain.

Well I felt bad honestly. He sold me a Fat Handled Tech which I know gives great shaves and I'd rather him have kept it and used it.

Dave,

You did the right thing by letting him know but he chose not to give the razor a second chance. Now, enjoy the Fat Handled Tech. You sir, are a gentleman.

People are amazing. I knew a guy once who had bought his daughter a decent violin. He came to work the day after receiving it saying the maker was an idiot, that you could draw the bow across the strings all day and "IT WON'T MAKE A SOUND!" He had it all packed up to ship back. I asked him "Did you rosin the bow?" to which he replied "Huh?" If someone hadn't told him he would never have asked.

I agree you are a true gentleman for offering the razor back.

I'm at a loss to understand how someone can put a Tech together in that manner and not realize that it's misassembled.

Yeah, I just tried it and I don't understand how it couldn't be seen as not misassembled.

Oh well, you tried Dave.
