Gary's probably tired of me following him around, but I am loyal GDCarrington convert to the H.I.S. brush. I have cleared out my den and it is now the only brush in my rotation, so I cannot endorse it enough. Order one while they are hot!

Synthetics are not that bad to tell the truth. Not nearly the same as good silvertip, but not too different from mid range badger. Tips are generally soft enough and it holds enough water to make lather, but not a lot.

Great travel brush, not so great luxury brush. Also, it's made from nylon so probably not good for the environment. But, you aren't killing any animals.

There are a lot of variety in the synthetic range. This is an excellent brush and although it doesn't have the prestige of a $200-$300 brush, it doesn't need that. It works great, travels well, dries well.

Some synthetics are just meh, others are good. This one I will admit is great.

I confess. I have one on the way. Left my Wee Scot in a hotel in Indiana (I do things like that, hence I travel with lower cost stuff) and decided to pick this one up instead of replacing the WS. Looking forward to trying the H.I.S. when it arrives.

I'll now use my Omega synthetic for travel until I lose that...
