I am not an aficionado of Facebook but I do subscribe to newsfeeds from several restaurants.  Up until several months ago
Matt and Bruce from Mongoose Razors ran a closed group with daily SOTD's featuring the Mongoose.

Again, not being that familiar with Facebook, are any of you aware of other daily postings of SOTD's in any other groups?
A friend and recent convert to wet shaving is into Facebook and asked me to explore this.

Thanks for any helpful replies!

Brad

SOTD is very common on the shaving FB groups. So much so that it has overwhelmed my feed and become the bulk of what I see on FB. Some great stuff posted on there. The problem is that most people(myself included) post the same thing to every group they are a member of so you see the same post 3-5 times.

Thank you for the reply.  I guess one just needs to search under "wet shaving" in order to find these groups?

Thank you both.   I searched for, found, and joined the Razor and Brush group.

I follow The Big Shave group there in Facebook, but don't know who owns it. Shaves appear in my news and are greats, people work their daily shots a lot.

Fb groups are great. My favorite is direct contact with artisans and store owners. Yes you can send an email or a message on forum but when i have a question about a product or something on their site i just shoot them a pm which usually goes to their phone and they answer right away. Plus being able to interact and share experiences is a bit easier than forums or reddit. That said you can get a lot of notifications but you can turns those off Smile

I closed my Facebook account for personal reasons, but have to say that I do not miss the drama of the Facebook shaving groups.

There are some good people there but there is too much unchecked advertising and most of the moderators only pour gasoline on the fires.

That and to be perfectly honest with you, like Shane said, I do not care to see the same person's SOTD 30 times over in each group.

Shave the Man members frequently post SOTD pictures, also on reddit with wicked_edge and wetshavers

I'm in a couple of FB groups. R&B and Shave The Man. Mostly I see SOTD pics and random stupid stuff.

As others have said, there are plenty of SOTDs in the Facebook groups I'm in. I'm not big into Facebook overall, but the Shave groups are a fun place to hang out every now and again.

The few Facebook groups that I post on such as The Straight Razor Place, Str8shave, Hempel Razor Handles, plus the BST shaving groups and raffle groups are as well moderated as any shaving forum. PS I also decline many offers to join various other shaving groups because at the end of the day there's only so much one can keep up with.

I'm happy you feel that way but I will respectfully disagree. Too much unchecked nonsense in those groups disguised as good intentions. I met good people there and have kept in touch with them but I don't need to watch grown men arguing about God only knows what and see 60 million SOTD pics.

I agree with this. Lots of unnecessary arguments and there are a few members that continually post inappropriate things but because of their relationships with the moderators, they get away with it.

My issue with SOTD threads is they keep coming up when I search for a specific product.  I have to use "-SOTD" term in my search engine to ignore them.
