I am waiting on a Wolfman Head. I am coming from straights and the Mongoose B2 where I used Feather blades. What blade would you suggest I use in the Wolf Man WR1 SB?
Thanks,
H

I usually find the Feather to harsh for me but it seems like they were made for the Wolfman. It's now the only blade I will use in it.

I regularly used a Mongoose B2 with either Feather Pro or Feather Super blades.  I prefer to use the Wolfman with Feather blades also.  It easily matches the Mongoose with Feather Pro blades in terms of efficiency and comfort.

I use both feather and polsilver in mine and I think they work equally well.

I have only had my Wolfman razors long enough to do one rotation with OC and one SB. Feather is generally my go to blade so used it in both razors for each.

Great performance and although I will try other blades, I agree with the others: Feather blades perform very well in these razors.

Polsilver SI or GSB.  Feathers work well but I only get 1 use out of them regardless of razor.

Voskhod!  For everything: Voskhod!  Or Rapira Platinum Lux/Swedish Super.

I just tried a Med Prep and swapped it out after about 1 inch of shaving.  GSB can be good but be sure you wipe the wax off the blade as it can cause stainless steel to rust.

Polsilver SI, I consistently get 10 2 pass shaves per blade with the WR1 SB head.

The blades that work well for me in my WR1-SB are:

Polsilver SI
Gillette 7O'clock super platinum (blue)

I haven't used feathers in my WR1-SB but i have in the BBS-1 and they work great.
I suspect feathers would be good in the WR1-SB because of how securely the blade is held.

I've gotten good results with most quality blades.  the only poor shave I can recall is with Derby.... but then Derby's have always been a problem for me.....

  • Polsilver Super Iridium

These are probably the highest rated blades. Sure there are plenty others, but often these are the most recommended.
I personally use nothing but Polsilver blades. They work wonderfully in the Wolfman razors.

Not sure if I'd say Feathers are highly recommended. More of a love/hate thing. Personally, I don't have much luck with them.

In my experience, it is always recommended. I have also seen it ranked highly on online polls. Again blades are very subjective, what may work for you may not work for someone else. There are ton's of blades out there, try a few and see what works best for you OP.

I personally only use Feathers in my AS-D2 razor. Polsilvers in everything else.

Which blades are you using, if I may ask?

For me it is very blade dependent.  I get 1, maybe 1.5 out of a Feather.  I get about 4 out of an Astra SP.  I used GSBs the most, and could stretch it to 4 shaves but usually just swapped out after 3 because I have a large supply of them.  For the past 2 weeks I've used Polsilver SI, got 6 real good shaves last week and 4 on a new blade so far this week with no signs of slowing down.  FWIW this is the first blade I've used that is still extremely comfortable and efficient beyond 4 shaves.

There are other factors that I think also play into blade life; the razor, the soap, the lather you generate, your hair, you technique, etc...

Celestino, so far i have tried polsilver, kai, feather, gillette 7 oclock green package, voshkod, nacet, german wilkinson sword, personna med prep, astra, israeli red personna, and gillette silver blue.
pretty much for all of them i get an excellent first shave (except nacet, astra, GSB and voshkod-very uncomfortable anD not smooth at all) and a medicore second shave. only tried 3 shaves on the kai and the results weren't bad at all.
second shave on any of these is just not as smooth, requires more passes or touchups to achieve same result as 1 st shave. in some cases it's just not as clean shave regardless of touchups

very interesting. i'll try to push the polsilvers again and see what i get out of them... 6 shaves is alot better than 1 or 1.5!!
agree with you polsilvers are very comfortable, so are the kais and wilkinson swords. Personna meds are also nice but not as sharp as the other three.
