Has anyone tried it? Thoughts on the cooling effect, if any.  Can you gauge against Proraso Green as a baseline please.

I stopped in AoS and took a whiff, and it does at least smell nice.

if the lady at our local aos did not completely ignore everyone and spend the whole time on her cell phone while i was in there i would have bought a tub of it.

I'm sure it is an excellent performer just like other AoS creams

I'm trying to hold on buying more creams..........soaps are the way to go, if you want to avoid your products going stale (If you're a collector)

But the 3 AOS creams I do own are all rather nice performers......

Thanks guys, I know from experience that u like their creams, I am more interested in the effect that the peppermint gives during your shave. I like menthol/peppermint rich creams -- just wondering if this is worth a shot.

I don't see menthol listed in the ingredients or the description on AoS's website. I listed the ingredients below for Peppermint and Sandalwood, and there are some differences. As for performance, I wouldn't think it would be any different based on peppermint EO alone, but due to the different ingredients in general it might.

Peppermint Shaving Cream
Water/Aqua, Palmitic Acid, Myristic Acid, Stearic Acid, Potassium Hydroxide, Coconut Acid, Glycerin, Triethanolamine, Sodium Hydroxide, Lauric Acid, Propylene Glycol, Tetrasodium Edta, Disodium Edta, Phenoxyethanol, Methylisothiazolinone

Sandalwood Shaving Cream
Water/Aqua, Palmitic Acid, Myristic Acid, Stearic Acid, Potassium Hydroxide, Coconut Acid, Glycerin, Triethanolamine, Fragrance/Parfum, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Hydroxide, Lauric Acid, Propylene Glycol, Tetrasodium Edta, Disodium Edta, Phenoxyethanol, Methylisothiazolinone, Coumarin, Hexyl Cinnamal, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone

I have it and really like it. It has a very nice peppermint scent much like a candy cane.
The cooling affect is moderate and probably comparable to Proraso green but with no menthol scent.
The performance is excellent but I don't have any other AOS creams to compare it to so I'll just say that it holds its own against Baume.be, Cade, XPEC and other top notch creams in my collection.

Great scent and performance but if a big cooling kick is what your after its only a moderate cooling effect. I like it but it's not sub zero cryogenic Smile

AoS creams are underappreciated IMHO

The differences between these two formulations as listed is trivial.  I doubt there is any discernible difference in their performance.

So I caved last week when I passed the Art of Shaving store in my local mall and purchased a tub of peppermint shave cream.  I have used it four times and I have to say that this is an absolutely fantastic product! The cooling effect from the mint essential oil is mild and to me, is very pleasing.  It lathers very easily and produces a rich, slick lather, and the biggest plus is that it has left my face feeling absolutely fantastic.  I can't recommend this product highly enough.  Well done AoS! (You don't get to say that very often!)

Very nice, Nathan! I'm not surprised in the least that you're enjoying the performance of an AoS cream.
Could you post a pic of the ingredients list, i imagine their website is incorrect since the ingredients for the Unscented and Peppermint are shown identical.

Thank you, Nathan! It looks like they only added peppermint oil to the Unscented base.

It's a great performing and smelling cream! I started using it to super lather with Strop Shoppe Peppermint. End it with Myrsol Formula K.
