I don't do much Ebay shopping but couldn't pass this one up. It's a Vintage J A Henckels Safety Razor Solinger Germany.

Shaved with it today and gave a pleasant shave.

Does anybody know any history on these razors?

that is a very interesting looking razor PAW

is it a SE razor, like a GEM?

does that disc hold the flip-bar against the cap?

That is so cool. It is hard to tell from the picture, but does it take a wedge blade that must be sharpened and honed?

That's a Henckels Rapide razor.

They're beautiful razors, and they shave very well. The blade does need to be honed like a straight razor. They usually come with strops, and stropping handles in a set.

The good news is that this razor will take disposable modern SE blades. However, they become more aggressive with a modern blade (because of the angle the blade is held at).

The blade looks like the Rolls blade except more hollowed out.

Wow, that is a beautiful razor and an example of fine craftsmanship. It's too bad Henckels does not make them anymore. I was told that Henckels also made very good straight razors.

Congratulations on your find! And Yohann, I love the wood case also.

Here are some fotos of the first one I found last year. Not shown in the fotos are the leather case and strop.
