Just released was a podcast episode by host Mike Dillard of the popular 'Self Made Man' show. This episode was all about the creation of the OneBlade from the founder of the company, Porter Stansberry. He begins with the initial idea, then goes on to development failures and successes, hiring the design team and CEO, sourcing materials, testing, funding, and what it takes to create and maintain a successful business. But mostly, it is all about shaving.

Even if you do not own a OneBlade, or do not plan to buy one, you should find the show fascinating, as it really gets into all the nitty-gritty of what it takes to create and market a modern razor.

I am posting a link to this podcast at the bottom of this post, but if the mods feel that the link goes against the rules, please feel free to remove the link. In that case, the podcast can be found through iTunes, or by searching for the Mike Dillard 'Self Made Man' podcast. And the show was released this December 9th, with Porter Stansberry.

Glad you liked it Ed! Smile

It definitely makes me appreciate my razor even more, knowing all the backstory and history.

And knowing all the complexities and details of what it takes to make a razor like this one is really a rare and special treat!

I happen to be on the Mike Dillard mailing list, and he sent me a follow up email about last week's podcast with Porter Stansberry. They have offered listeners to this podcast 35% off the cost of the OneBlade ($104.65 discount) for those who use the coupon code "DillardHoliday35" (without quotes) into the OneBlade checkout screen. He says in the email the code will only work till this Friday.

I just scored a spare... Thumbup

That is a fantastic discount- thanks for sharing Len. I just tried to purchase though and it indicates that it is not a valid code unfortunately.

Kevin, I'm sure it works, as I just bought a spare, and tested the coupon code again after I saw your post. I also see that Darkbulb posted about this discount as well, just now, on another UK based shaving forum, and posted the discount pic. I would make sure the quotes to the the code are removed, or copy the code as you see it from Darkbulb's pic. If you're still having issues, you may want to email OneBlade...

Very strange... I will try from a different network as I tried both a copy/paste as well as direct typing the code. Nonetheless, thanks for sharing as mentioned!

With that kind of a discount I was considering purchasing, however, the code didn't work for me either.

I was just told by a friend that the code appears to work for 'standalone razor' purchase only, i.e. without adding blade subscription.

Edit : yes works for me, if razor alone is selected, and not if blade subscription is added to cart.

Thanks Ravi, I was scratching my head thinking perhaps corp network however then had the thought that the razors, being recurring, would not be subject to discount. Removed, voila.

Great discount Len and thank you again for the heads up.

I think the reason that happened was because the code was set to discount 35%... but the code failed as it tried to discount every item in your cart....

I guess if you still want the blade subscription, just make a separate order...

Glad I could help spread the love... Cheers

Thanks for the clarification y'all. I now have a OneBlade on its way to me. I also picked up 30 Feather blades at no charge thanks to the Sharp30 coupon code. I set my subscription rate to renew every 90 days. That will give me time to see if I need more from them or I should be able cancel the subscription and pick up blades as needed.

Damn, now it's a reasonable price.  Too bad the blades are bit more than normal esp with the supposed decrease in longevity....

....Damn, there goes my X-Mas Budget....

Wife's gonna kill me dead.
