For the longest time I have noticed that Polo 10 and 12 in best/super has been out of stock. Is there a reason for this?

My guess is that these brushes are outside of the popular size category and don't sell well.  When a company is looking to increase profit one of the easiest things to do is to cut the slow sellers as that focuses production on the money makers.  You might e-mail Mark and see if he has any laying around collecting dust.

Where is it that you are referring to it as out of stock? I'm finding plenty of sources with what you are looking for in stock. But I would agree with Dave that they are probably slower sellers which is why you would see this happen if/when it does.

They are listed as available on the Simpsons website in best, super, and manchurian..  Unless I am misunderstanding your question

I apologize- I did not check this time. Couple of weeks ago when i was looking - I could not find a place where polo 10 best was sold. 1 vendor had super in stock.
It went on like that for quite some time and as a result, I thought that it was not a popular brush. Additionally, not many people have posted their experience with polo 10 on sites...

The Polo range is definitely still being made.

I used my PL10 today...

I also have a PL8...

I used to own a few in Super (2 band and 3)...

The Polo boasts a very substantial handle. I think the Colonel (X2L) is possibly more approachable for many in terms of size and investment...

A size comparison...

Ben, you need a PL12 to complete the Polo lineup

There might be an issue with the loft height restriction associated with Manchurian that eliminates the ability to construct a suitable knot for a PL12. IMO a short lofted Polo looks incongruent to the tall handle. That said, I'd love to see one...

that's a good point, there, ben. i'm thinking my manchurian polo 10 has about a 28mm knot (it's on loan to a friend now, so i can't measure it) and a decent glue bump. i don't think i'd want more of a glue bump than what that brush has, though i do believe that manchurian 10 is my desert island brush. such an utter joy to use!

and in looking at that colonel x2l, i notice that my newly acquired rooney pl 2/urn 2 (whichever it is that they're called) is a closer shape to that one than the polo...

Agreed, the Simpson X2L and the Rooney Urn both feature the ring making them more similar in appearance.

Nick - love the 31 mm - did you have that set in a custom loft?

I usually don't specify loft when purchasing from Lee. I trust his craftsmanship.
