I thought some of you might enjoy taking a peek at some really beautiful brushes.  Whether they're vintage or modern, Plisson brushes are hard to beat aesthetically and in use.  In fact, the horn handle on the modern Plisson brush in the following pictures is one of the most beautiful handles I have ever had the pleasure of using.
Over the last year or so I have been on the lookout for vintage and modern Plisson brushes and and have been lucky enough to pick up a few. The hair in the vintage brushes is unbelievable, both in use and to look at.  That being said, the hair in the modern is wonderful itself and is devoid of the black tips that seem to be more common these days. Here are my Plisson brushes, enjoy! Now let's see yours!

Top two are keepers! Is the Plexi feel any bit like a 2 band in terms of backbone?

I'm wondering if I would prefer to try a 14 or 16? The 18 was pretty hefty in size (knot).

Excellent photos and brushes!

Cheers!

Hey Zac,
Yes, the European White feels just like two band, more backbone than the High Mountain Whites.  I think a size 14 would be the ultimate Plisson brush for me. You're right the bigger brushes are a bit different to use, but I really enjoy using them, I just don't use them the same way I'd use a 2XL, many more paintbrush strokes employed as opposed to circular motions to build the lather on the face.

That's some beautiful brushes you've got!
The vintage horn one is absolutely stunning! Is that a 3 band?

Yes, they are all three-band, but as you can see the dark band is broader than usual, so if the brushes weren't as highly lofted they would be two-band in appearance.

Here are some HMW with Horn handles a 10, 12 16 and 20. The 20 was sold it was too big and painful for my hands. Next a 16 plexiglass and a 12 Brass handle.

It's the photo of the brush when i purchased it. Better job of conveying the beauty of the brush as well!

Do all Plissons only come in a bulb?

I think so. The splay due to the higher loft allows it to feel similar to a fan.
