Yesterday I was in a shop. The owner had some pens. One was a NOS Pelikan 800 roller ball. The ask price was $300. He said I could buy it for $200 cash. I passed because I thought the 800 series was too large to be a pocketable daily driver.

Did I make a mistake in not buying it anyway?

It depends on what you are interested in.  Because it is a rollerball instead of a fountain pen, I would have given it a pass.  If it was a fountain pen then I might have considered it.  They seem to be plentiful on eBay.

Agree with Freddy about eBay.  That is where I bought mine several years ago.  They are a very nice instrument.  I've always had good luck with anything Pelikan that I've owned.

At $200 for a rollerball it's expensive in my book.  On the other hand, if it'd been a fountain pen I'd have snapped it up.
