I just got my Zenith boar hair 28x50 brush. I saw Nick Shaves had a 26x57 so I went looking. When I saw a 28x50 I had to give it a whirl. I love the shorter loft. A few test lathers and a shave tonight with B&M Latha. I think this will be a great one after a break in.

I was looking through the item details for this one and it lists the effective loft (after glue bump) as around 42-43. I'm curious what the face feel is like on these. I'm intrigued as I would like a soft boar with a bit of scrub and good backbone. The size of the knot sounds good.

Scrubby not scritchy, that is what I am always after. I've had a few brushes, both boar and badger, that have had prickly scritch and out of my den they go. This boatrhair out of the gate is nicer than Omega, similar to the Semogue IB LE I had but obviously larger knot and shorter loft. No scritch that I have noticed yet and I'm sure it will only soften as I go.

The handle is hollow, it is basically a very thin aluminum shell.
The hairs are much thinner than usual boar but the backbone is pretty good.

I think there is a weight or something in the handle. I agree that it's hollow, but it has a nice weight.

I understand the handle is actually ABS covered with thin aluminum.

Compared to my Omega boars:
The bristles are finer
This brush broke in quicker
The backbone is stronger due to the short loft - reminiscent of SoC boar (I think I will get the taller loft next time)

I have both the 26mm and this version. I'm a Semogue fan and this Zenith Boar Brush is amazing. Bristle quality is great imho.

This is good news about the boar. I was considering their synthetic but hesitated because of the short loft, glue bump, and inherent springiness in what looks like STF fibres (I think he claims they're not). That's a really good looking knot and maybe worth trying out.

I'm definitely liking this brush. The hairs at the edge are splitting, hopefully the ones densely packed in the center begin to split soon.
