Gentlemen (and Ladies):

The moderation team has noticed a trend in the B/S/T that we do not condone and that clearly breaks forum rules. The whole idea behind the B/S/T is that you are buying, selling and trading in a community of like-minded individuals who share a common hobby. Although the members may not actually be your friends in real life, you are to behave as if you are selling or trading with your friends. It is not to be a profit center or a store front and the principals of the free market do not hold true. If you want to turn a significant profit, there is Ebay as well as a host of other auction sites.

Yes, we realize that a bottom dial Fatboy deserves to be listed for more than the original asking price of $5.00. That is not what we are talking about. Rather, we are seeing recent production products selling for way more than their original asking price.

If anyone sees a product that is grossly overpriced in the B/S/T, please report it immediately. We would like to keep the community feel of the Shave Nook and this epidemic is threatening that goal.

Thanks for airing this issue Phil!  I have been really fighting the urge to post original MSRP's in the sale threads to help members who may not be aware of an item's original price from getting gouged.

Phil, if you have a WTB up, and receive a grossly overpriced offering from a fellow member, should you also report that?

I feel as though the WTB section creates a loophole in the new policy.

Speaking as one of the Moderators I know I would appreciate getting reports on any infractions of the rules.

The rules, guidelines and policies of the Nook apply across the board.

I agree with Hans and will add, this is not a new policy.  B/S/T Rule #6 has been in place for a long time.  Either some do not read it, or ignore it.

Yes, it has been in place since Day 1.

It's funny as a beginner I don't know much about prices but lately I've been noticing sold out razors with an original price of around $100 CAD going for almost $200 USD... i just wanted a razorock stealth for close to or less then  (used) original price... it has been looking like ebay as of late.. hopefully this gets cleared up Smile

What, are you saying that the same handle/hair/size M&F brush that sold in the BST last year for $80 and was now listed for $250 isn't fair?

I think you're wrong Grant... no one was selling M&F's for $80 in 2015 or 2014. Maybe in 2013, but not frequently, and certainly not after the B&B Chief group buy.

A very timely and welcomed reminder.

Demand will always create opportunity to sell at inflated prices, but this is (and always has been) clearly outlawed by forum rules (and gentlemanly conduct). Perhaps all future infractions should be met with a temporary loss of BST privileges?

As for monitoring WTB pricing, perhaps just as BST listings are required to show prices, WTB threads could also be updated with items traded or prices paid?

Great idea Ben, it would also help us understand the dynamics of the BST when we buy or sell something.

Thanks for bringing the issue to light Phil and company. The Nook is an awesome community, as made apparent by this thread.

*I sold the M&F as the M&F was sold to me at that price.

I do notice some head scratching prices once in a while. But I hope we don't go crazy adding too many new rules. I think the BST at TSN is the best one in shavedom, partially due to how the site shows some faith in the community to act like gentleman.

One thing I noticed was that rule 6 mentions that it is not appropriate to take advantage of the good prices here, and then go sell the items somewhere else for profit. Maybe the rule should also mention that it is not appropriate to mark up goods sold on this BST to make profit.
