I like allowing replies. Not allowing replies is too sterile. We are still chewing this over in the mod forum.

I think right now with the contest going on the replies are a little overboard but once it's over, will die back down. I will admit I'm guilty of it myself lately.

The funny thing is that BST posts do not add to your post count. Tongue

I'm not sure everyone realized that.  I noticed it but that was just fortuitous.

It may depend on if you are a mod or not...it counted for me. Can you do a test and let me know if it counts for you?

Unless there is a delay it didn't register.

I posted three times just to see, and my count did not go up.  Not an issue for me because I don't usually post comments in that section.

I agree with both Primo and Dave.

Most of the comments are very polite but not productive.

I admit to being guilty of this in the past, but "GLWTS" or "great price from a great member" is neither insightful, nor helpful and adds no important information to the post. Legitimate questions should be addressed via PM to the seller and if this information is pertinent to the sale, the OP should edit his/her posting to include it. I don't believe this would negatively effect the Nook in any manner. Indeed, it might help protect the newer members and discourage the  more "profit-driven" sellers.

Count me as one that would keep the comments enabled. Transparency is good, and I'd rather not trust that the seller has publicly addressed the questions asked via PM. And I like the community vibe it encourages as well. What's so bad about a friendly good luck with your sale?

I'd plus one, great, if all comments were enabled.  Right now fanboy's shilling is permitted, if not totally pervasive, it get's a tad obnoxious.  But,  a gentlemanly note that such and such is available new for the same price is not allowed.   As a frequenter of the Nook's B'S'T, my druthers would be to allow constructive comments only, set it so they don't bump the listing, and btw, "great deal buddy" isn't constructive in my humble opinion.   It's after all up entirely to Phil.

I agree with this to an extent, there is too much flumadiddle. Constructive comments are cool, but I get tired of reading the following:

1.) That you would buy the item if you had the money

2.) That you can't see the price because you're using Tap-a-stalk

3.) That you didn't read the entire listing and now have a question that there is already an answer to

4.) That you would buy the item if the seller shipped to your country

5.) That the item won't last long

Etc.

Some comments that I think are helpful:

1.) Do you know the loft height of the brush

2.) What is the date code on your razor

3.) When was the last time you had your razor honed

Etc.

And in all seriousness, most of the listings do not need any luck. Most of the people here are hopelessly addicted to acquiring shaving gear  Rolleyes

Trades are different though, and a little luck is needed at times
