I had a Thater 4125/4 (30/60) two band silvertip brush that was not doing it for me. The knot is great as far as face feel but the loft is just way too high to give me the face feel that I enjoy, namely good backbone with soft tips. I really liked the looks of DK brushes so I contacted Doug and chose a BB Kent 2011 LE brush design in root beer and amber, with the knot at 56mm.

I used the brush today and it was significantly better performing for me compared to the original version. I get backbone similar to a CH3 Manchurian, although there is no detectable scrub. The knot is a lot more compact now, but there is no issue with flow through. The knot had enough lather for 3 passes, and had enough later for a fourth. After the upgrade this Thater is now in the rotation to stay.

This handle is classic and Doug's take on it is right on. Great choice and congratulations.

Thank you guys, that handle design and the  Polo/Colonel designs are my favorite non-custom designs.

When I was looking through the portfolio, as soon as I saw that one it was my first choice.

Doug did a beautiful job on your handle, Stefan. I'm really impressed with the root beer/amber combination. I happen to love Thäter knots--I just wish you could order just the knot at the specific loft that you like, like you can with Shavemac. Congratulations on a stunning and excellent performing brush. If there isn't enough backbone for you, you know where to send it.  Biggrin

Doug has a Thäter 4125/3 thats going under the lathe blades as we speak Richard, destined for the Kent LE type handle. The rootbeer/amber is a fantastic combo you picked Stefan.
