With all the focus on Chubbys and M7s due to the LE flood other great Simpson brushes that cannot be had as LEs typically are getting forgotten.

One of those is the 50's series. Please show/share your 50's experiences.

I start with a wonderful specimen: a 58 in 2 Band from 2012: 25/50mm knot of dense 2  Band badger hair with great backbone and pillow soft tips.

One of my favorites! And yours?

I've always liked the 57, 58 and 59, and felt they are highly underrated.  At one point I owned a 57, 58, and 59 in Best.  Now I only have 2-band brushes, and wish Simpson would release one of these handles in Manchurian or 2-Band.  Your 58 is beautiful.

Here's my 58, a very Chubby-dense, white-haired knot that holds a bucket of water....

Cheers, Steve

The only Simpson badger I own is the 58. Excellent brush in my opinion.

I've only tried the 57 Douglas and thought it was great but a tad small. A 58 should be perfect, but only if it had hair similar to that noted above.

Yes, absolutely one of my favorites. I actually shaved with a 56 this morning. I had a preference for smaller knots when I first started wet shaving and the 56 was my absolute favorite. I moved on to bigger knots, but have kept the 56. This particular 56 has Best grade hair that IMO is softer than a couple three-band supers I've owned. The 56 is now my travel brush as it fits nicely in a plastic tube I made. Here's a pic of it next to a 46 that I've since sold.

I like all of the 50's series (not that I own all of them), but the 58 seems to be the best fit for my hand. I've been tempted on more than one occasion to pick up either the 58 or the 57. Sometimes - as observed above - the tips on a Best will be as white as a Super.

I also would love to see Simpson release the 50 series in two band and or Manchurian, as I started this thread http://shavenook.com/showthread.php?tid=38264  So please voice your wants and maybe Mark will take action if he sees enough demand.

Oooooh a 58 in Manchurian would surely have wide appeal. That handle is awesome, and Manchurian hair is a nice bonus.

I'm quite fond of my 59 Best. I recently deleted all the older brush photos from this iphone so I'll have to reshoot asap.

Magnificent! I really need to get some of that Santa Maria Novella. It looks great perched next to your 58 Smile.

SMN is a great soap. That tub is the original version and it's currently about half full.
