My custom Shavemac arrived today.  I ordered this brush as a celebratory gift to myself and I couldn't be happier.  Bernd did a wonderful job, as always.

Brush specs:
Handle: Jade Beehive
Knot: 23mm 2 band Silvertip Fan
Loft: 48mm

The jade resin is fantastic- a wonderful addition to Shavemac's offerings, IMO.[Image: XIZRqZn.jpg]

I love the Jade handle congrats. How's the softness of the knot as I have two on order myself?

From the first lathering, it is quite soft.  Not as soft as my Thater but my Thater is well worn.  If I had to do it over again, I would consider dropping the knot to the classic 1:2 knot:loft ratio.  That said, the splay is very nice and flow is great.

My mother in law is buying me a custom Shavemac for my birthday and I am going to get the same knot but at 24:48 or 25:50 in a different handle style and color.

Very nice Joe and good to hear of the softness. I have a 26:50 bulb and 26:48 fan on order. I hope this combination give me the soft feel but great backbone I crave.

Are you comparing it to Thater 2-band or 3-band? I have not had a Shavemac in my den since mid-2014 but I just broke down and ordered 2 last week. One is in the specs that you mentioned - 25/50 2-band Silvertip Fan. From what has been written, I am expecting it to have similar softness to my 2-band Thater. Been meaning to compare these 2 grades for a while so I'm anxious to get this delivery. Your brush looks fantastic.

Rob-

My comparison was to the Thater 2 band Fan.  I prefer fan knots overall, primarily because I like to use painting strokes to build my lather.  This Shavemac 2 band silvertip fan knot has a little scrub to it, unlike my Thater 2 band silver tip fan, however, my Thater has A LOT of lathers under its belt so it's really not a fair comparison.  Please share your thoughts as well when you receive your brushes.
